Help! Why have my fully developed cat suddenly stop using his litter box completely???
He will go to the bathroom all over the house in different locations every time. His litter is extraordinarily fresh and clean so, maybe he's mad at me for something?
I had a cat that was one and only one, he started doing the same thing, I took him to the vet he had crystals and be plugged, which means he could not use the bathroom, so when he could pee he went where ever he be because it hurt him so bad!! he had to stay at the vet for two weeks and they put a cathader in him it be the worst two weeks of my life!! I ended up having to pinch him to medvet, he was so bad i had to put him down it be the worst choice i ever had to make. It took me a long time to get over it. Male and Female cats can go and get this females can pass the crystals eaiser then male cats it pluggs the tip of the penis on manly cats. I am not a vet so i am not saying for sure that is what is wrong beside your cat but that is how it started out with my cat.
Is he going normally even though outside the box? By that I tight-fisted, have you noticed him seeming to strain to pee, or peeing more often and outstandingly small amounts each time? If this is the case, take him to the vet for possible urinary tract issues.
If he seem to be peeing the same amount, about as often as beforehand, and not straining, there might be something wrong with his litter box. That can be anything from a change surrounded by the litter to even a minor change in the environment around his litter box. Possibly the weather has turned colder and he feel a draft coming from somewhere. While a draft might not bother a cat per se, if there was no draft and immediately there is one near the box, he might consider that box not his anymore.
Even if you hold not changed litter brands, sometimes the manufacturers change their product without you knowing. Some cats are picky going on for litter type and they adapt to one and do not like a switch.
Whenever a cat shows a drastic change within personality, eating habits, or litter box customs, the first consideration should be illness. Often these illnesses are easily treated and the problem ends with that. If disorder is ruled out, you will have to look at this as behavioral and try to find out what has caused this behavioral conversion. Behavioral issues are harder to fix the longer they go on, so attend to this problem sooner rather than later.
Answers: he probably think his litter box is too small
or maybe hes to tired of peeing or pooping in the same place adjectives the time
go to a vet
Is he neutered? Male cats will mark if unfixed. If he's fixed this sounds approaching a behavioral issue, make sure you have 2 litter pan you must have 2 pans for every cat, you might have scooped but the litter must be changed every week and the tub disinfected. Cats are really picky, also if you cannot remove the smell of urine from the places he marked he will continue to budge there.
Your cat may have a urinary tract infection.
All the answers you've got so far are lawful reasons.
Another couple are: Is he mad at you?Did you bring home another cat, or a toddler or have you guys moved recently?
This probably isn't it, but the community has already suggested the ones that are most possible.
Cats love routine and generally do not welcome major change.
Don't give up on your kitty, try to find out what is wrongd
Did anyone think it was funny to upset him out of the box when he was trying to use it? This can put a cat off using the box completely.
Did you change litters to something that stinks next to 'cover up' perfume?
Did you change litters for something new? Some hate the get the impression of large grains on their feet.
Is the box within a high traffic area with too masses people going by?
Is he possibly reacting to a urinary infection?
usually when cats correction their bathroom habits its because something is wrong. he could have a urinary infection or be sick in some passageway, so I would take him to the vet.
Top reason for a cat to stop using the litter box:
Dirty litter box(es)
Poor choice of litter type (using pellets/crystals/non-clumping litter)
Poor location of litter box(es)
Blocked from the box by a dominant feline housemate
Box size is too small
Too few boxes
