How can i fatten this kitty up so he won't die?
this kitten just randomly walked into my house and he looks as whether he's only 1 or 2 months of age. He has a pop belly(fat belly) but you can feel his bones. Should he be consumption formula or regular cat food. He's a really sweet cat and he has 7 pingers on each of his front paws. I really would similar to to help him. I would appreciate it if anyone could assist me. Thank You
...nurture him
and let him loose
there are can, or boxes of kitty milk that you can feed to the kitten. you should be able to get it from walmart, and the cat sounds close to it would be big enough to drink it out of a small dish. Get some dewormer medication, and flea/tick treatment shampoo and a collar for when the kitten gets a little bit bigger. It should be ok whether you feed it well. after the worm treatment takes effort of the pot belly try switching the kitten to purina kitty chow, it will give the cat a healthy, smooth, shiny coat.
At this age, the kitty should still be with his mama! If there's no mama kitty around, the best entry you can do is bring him to the vet or a rescue agency...don't send him to the pound, though. If he has a problem like worms, they won't treat - single euthanize.
He might own roundworm, it can keep a kitten from gaining weight and they normally get a pot belly appearance from it.. You can get medication for roundworm at walmart or any other pet store. I got my kitten from a shelter and she has this problem.
Answers: If you just put some damp food and dry kitten food down for him he will plump up in no time. As for the fat belly. Sounds approaching he has worms which is pretty typical in strays. He will most likely involve to be dewormed by a vet. There is no point in deworming with anything from a pet store b/c they usually don't work or one and only work for a few different types of worms. He most likely has round worm. If so you'll see long white worms that curl in his vomit or poop. He could also hold tapeworm so watch for little rice-like segments around his but. This could also be the reason why he is so skinny. Watch out whether you have other pets at home b/c it could be passed to them.
As for the extra toes..that freshly means he's a polydactyl. So cute!!
Hope that helps.
well it seems like he may own worms so i would get that checked out.
and i would start him out with KMR (kitten milk replacement) and try to soak some regular cat food in it and see whether he eats that.
Aww, powerfully I dought that he is 1 or 2 months, probably more because they are very frail at 1 month. So probably 2 1/2 - 3 months. Go to the vet and get him checked out. They can eat kitten food at 3 months but to fatten him up, kitten milk, the whiska's stuff is fine.
you should know how to feed him wet kitten food, or dry with a bit bit of water now.
That should fatten him up :]
Good luck!
And the 7 fingers make him a polydactyl cat :]
If he has a fat stomach but is skinny everywhere then he has worms and needs to see a vet. If he's individual a month old he'll need formula if he's 2 months weak he can eat regular cat food. The vet can tell you how old he is.
call aspca and ask them what to do
