How can I stop my feminine cat from urinating on things?

I have a female nine-year-old orange tabby who have a terrible habit of urinating on certain items: hip bath towels, bath rugs, dirty clothes that are going to be put in the laundry, jackets that you give notice lying on the floor. What can I do to get her to stop doing this? She has been doing this since I get her from the local animal shelter six years ago. There are no medical problems going on with her to be causing this. Any good proposal would be helpful.

Answers:    my cat does exactly the same item she wont go outside the vet said this is because shes old most frail cats do it your best off just buying her a cat litter box
