How do you endow with a cat a pill?

we just got new medication for my cat and we tried putting the pill in a little piece of ham and we had to try resembling 5 times before she actually ate it. are there any other ways to make available a pill to a cat? we can't put it in her food bowl because wehave two cats that eat at the same time out of impossible to tell apart bowl.
yes it is hard isn't it!
i did the same. Tried hiding the tablet in the food but my cat is intelligent and has a strong sense of smell.
In the end i had to hold her benevolently and slip it in her mouth. Get her to bite something ( it was me at the time!) and while its mouth is open, slide it surrounded by.
Having fun with it? Don't use food. Bad idea. What you do is hold their mouth unfold and stick the pill toward the back of their throat. Then close the jaw as quickly as you can and keep hold of it shut using your hands to hold the top and bottom of the jaw together. Now there are two ways you can generate her swallow at this point. You can blow on her nose until you feel her swallow or you can move you other hand up and down the throat contained by a gentle movement but it also causes them to swallow. Good luck! Don't get clawed.
Answers:    "These directions are for a right handed person. The cat will want to back absent from the pill so hold him in the crook of your right elbow so that he has no where on earth to go. The pill is held in your left mitt.

With your right hand, take the cat by the cheeks and lift his proboscis to the ceiling. His mouth will automatically drop slightly open.

Use a finger of your left hand to widen his lower jaw wider. He has no strength in the lower chin in this position and cannot bite. Place the pill as far back as possible into the mouth.

Let the cat’s face run and watch for lip licking motions which usually indicates that the pill has be swallowed. Some cats are good at deception so it is a good conception to open the mouth after a moment to see if the pill has be swallowed. If possible, squirt a small amount of water into the cat’s mouth to promote swallowing. This helps “nudge” the pill all the opening into the stomach where it belongs. Some medicines lodge in the esophagus temporarily and can bring irritation there if the medicine’s pH is in an “unfriendly” selection.

Mistakes to avoid:

* Do not try to approach the cat from the front. He will back away from you and escape. Your body should be behind the cat, near you and your cat facing the same direction.

* Do not try to give the pill with the cat’s cranium in a natural position. You will be bitten. You must hold the cat’s head vertically contained by order to be successful.

Don’t forget to check the cat’s mouth before releasing him. Many cats know you are waiting to see the licking motions and will try to fool you. If the pill is still present surrounded by the mouth when you check, just reach a finger in and tip the pill further put a bet on on the tongue or allow the cat to spit the pill out and begin again"
Try rolling the pills in butter or cream cheese beforehand you offer them to your cat.

The most effective way to pill a cat is the opening most people try to avoid. If you're brave, open the cat's jaws and stick the pill at toward the failure of the tongue. You can purchase plastic Pill Poppers for this task if you're worried your fingers will get chomped!

Another leeway is to look in the phone book for a compounding pharmacy. A compounding pharmacy can make your pet's medications flavored and chewable, so that it can be offered as a treat. Here's an online one; I greatly much trust this website: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/general.cf...

Good luck! :)

Seriously though, the Pill Pockets made by Greenies work great.
I have been giving my cat heart medicine for 9 years very soon so I know how frustrating it can get. Here is how I do it:

http://www.mamarocks.com/how_to_give_you...

Try putting it in a little bit of liver sausage or cream cheese; be certain to get it in the center though, otherwise the cat may not eat it.

There are also treats made so that you can put pills into them. They are made by the company Greenies. Here is a cooperation to their product: Don't know how big your pills are. Mine are 1/4 tablet so these do not work for me.

Another option is to ask your vet for a pill popper (aka pill popper). They will probably give you one for free or for a small fee (about $5).

Another trick is to like greased lightning blow on the cats nose or rub the bottom of his chin to make him swallow the pill. Sometimes they will hide it beneath their tounge or in the side of their mouth.

Good Luck!
Giving a Pill
Wrap your cat’s body and legs tightly surrounded by a towel, leaving her head exposed.
Grasp her head, urgent opposite sides of her upper jaw. Pull her head helpfully backward until her nose points straight up.
Pull down her lower front teeth, then drop the pill on the backbone of her tongue.
Close your her mouth and stroke her throat soothingly.
As your stroke her throat, be alert for a swallowing motion. Cats are clever at hiding pills in their mouth and may spit them out.

Hi,
Brenda A, has the correct answer here but remember to put thick gloves on as your cat will chisel and if it spits it out you did not put it at the back of the throat.

Open it's mouth, put the pill on the back of their throat, and then hold their mouth shut for a moment. If you don't put it far enough back, they'll spit it out. Sometimes, massaging their throat help, too.
stick it way down there and then hold mouth shut and blow on the obverse untill he licks
Try crushing it and mixing it with cane cat food. We do it to one of ours.
