How repeatedly should I recycle my litter box?

I only empty out the clumping litter and poo from the litter box but leave the gone over in the box with out change!!

How recurrently should I empty it and put new litter into the box?

Possibly once or twice a month each month will keep it smelling fresh. Try not to go to long though, otherwise it could stick to the vessel.
