I own 3 yr. ancient indoor cat. Need righteous suggestion on pet insurance.?

I am not sure when it's best to get a basic plan base on age/health and when it's better to get a superior plan. Does anyone have VPI insurance?
I've been using Banfield's Wellness Plan for all my cats. I've have a total of 45 so far. I would catagorize Banfield as a kaiser for humans. All the doctors are very friendly as well as their staff.

I would say that the only plea to go for the premium plans would be if your cat is sick right now. Or is an outdoor cat. Most simple plans offer annual preventive checkups, annual shots, deworming and fecal exams. Also some plans only give you a reduction on surgery.
I got my pet insurance through the ASPCA website. There are, I believe, 4 plans to choose from. Your vet will actually own nothing to do with the insurance - you just submit the bills to the company the ASPCA uses and they reimburse you 80% for things covered lower than whichever plan you decide on. It's a good thing to hold as they get older! I can tell you that the plan I picked, and I believe adjectives of them, do not cover chronic illnesses, i.e., kidney disease, hyperthyroid - things they will have to be medicated for, for the rest of their lives (I have one cat with hyperthyroid, one next to kidney disease, and one with chronic bronchitis, so honestly, it hasn't helped me much at all.

If a leg be broken or some accident such as that, they would cover 80% of that, however.

Answers:    I do not have pet insurance on any one of my kitties, but i would definitely recommend it. I am trying to look into now myself. But i basically wanted to say that if i did own pet insurance it would have saved me a lot of money these olden few months. My little guy was only a year old and he step down from the counter wrong and fractured his growth plate in his hip which required major surgery to fix. I didn't think that i would have need of pet insurance so soon since he was only a year old and most things near indoor cats are sicknesses as they are older. Then my other kitten who was only 6 months hoary has an Upper respiratory disease that isn't too serious but will require suppressive powder in his food for most of his life, and whether it acts up then medication as well. Now since both of the conditions for my kitty are previous no insurance will cover the pre existing conditions.
Good luck!
