I own freshly moved house and know my cat must stay inside for something like a month so she doesn't run absent but..?
Should we let her free in the whole house straight absent or just free in one room? When i first got her from the animal shelter, they told me to preserve her in just one room for two weeks before introducing her to the rest of the house. Does one and the same apply when moving house?
Depends on your cat. I've moved so many times that I just lock the cat contained by one room for a few hours and then let her explore the house. I keep her locked up until everything is moved surrounded by and the movers are gone, then let her out. She loves walking around sniffing everything. But yeah, I wouldn't let her dance outside for at least a month.
Depends on what your cat is like. If she is a fraidy cat that hides lower than the bed when you have company, or is easily frightened, etc. it might be kinder to put her in one room for a while so she feel less threatened. Otherwise, just let her investigate the unknown house on her own, making sure she doesn't go out. When she does go out, trademark sure she has a quick method to get in if she get scared outside, and maybe see her for a bit with the door open until she investigates the new setup outdoors. Otherwise she may gain scared and run away if she can't remember how to obtain in.
Yes, confine her to one room and let her out supervised for awhile. I strongly recommend you to make her a 100% indoor cat. If you perceive she has to go outside, next train to a harness/leash or build/buy a cat enclosure.
It would depend on your cat. Just play it by ear to see when your cat is ready to investigate the intact house. Please consider keeping your cat as an inside cat. There is no guarantee that your cat will not run away after one month, or even one year, or even longer.
Answers: Since she is familiar with you and the family, keeping her within one room sounds unnecessary. When we moved houses with my cat, he was very positive exploring the whole house from day one. But yes, do not let her external for at least a month.
keep her in the room while you unpack and stuff its a drastically scarey time for a cat..she should be kept in the room where the litter box will be.. have her food and hose in their too - but more it later.
