Is it really cruel to hold a cat declawed?

I have one cat that is declawed and I was debating whether or not to enjoy my second cat declawed. That way they will be equal if they evolve to fight. What do you think?
No. Not if it tears stuff up, but whether it were like a wild cat close to a tiger or something then yah i would consider it cruelty.
If you don't want to own the second cat declawed, you can always clip her nails yourself. You only gently push the paw above the claws until the whole claw is exposed. You will be able to see the nouns and about halfway up the claw it gets dark that is the line where you clip. They don't approaching it but they get use to it.
i consider if you take really good prudence of them after the surgery it would be fine
This is a very debated topic. A lot of people construe the way cats are declawed is cruel. Others don't. Despite what side you stand on, may I make one suggestion? If you choose to have the cat declawed, please ... PLEASE be off the back claws atleast. If the cat happens to get external, it must be able to defend itself. Even if he's an indoor cat and you enunciate he doesn't get out ... you just never know.
That is NOT a good reason to achieve a cat declawed. You should only get a cat declawed as a last resort, and besides, whether your cats fight, getting them declawed doesn't solve the problem, since they can still bite each other.
No its not. It will make it a fair fight between the cats during play or anything else. & it is also fine for them to walk outside afterwards. all of our cats have be declawed & i still see them climb trees & catch rabbits & what not outside. just overnight external may not be good if there are other cats contained by the area or foxes or anything.Atleast for the front claws. It also doesn't hurt em. My cats came back from the vet same afternoon no meds ripped the bandages off & went around there own business like nought ever happened. just don't like squish in that paws that they won't appreciate =]
I feel strongly that you shouldn't do it. Cats with claws and those lacking can live together without any problems.
I think it is really cruel to have them declawed as a being would not like there nails to be removed completely. Don't declaw your cat only just to make it equal in a fight. An easier channel is make sure your cats don't end up warfare.

:D Hope this helped.
As long as they NEVER go outside, it's not a impossible thing at all. They get over it and do not even know they hold no claws- seen yours try to scratch after being de-clawed?
i think it is humane of cruel. it is illegal where i live, and i think its wrong because cats are living things, and dont approaching having their nails ripped out, would you?

Why would you even ask that? No, it's not cruel.

as long as you keep them inside and use the right litter (paper, not crystals or clay) to help prevent infection. but yeah, you shouldn't hold just one declawed
Answers:    Yes it is cruel and I think you already know that or you would'nt own asked the question.

The only way I can explain is Imagine have your fingers amputated down to the knuckle joints. See how painful it is?

Just have a look at this website.

http://www.declawing.com

Please dont do it.

I perceive sorry for you because you are going to be crucified on this forum for even asking that question...
This a hugely debated hot topic, and I'm certain you will receive plenty of answers from both sides. If your cat with claws isn't destroying your furniture or attacking the other cat, I would just leave him be. Do your cats clash to begin with? Unless you're having issues next to the one cat with claws, I wouldn't worry about it. Save you some money and the cat some discomfort.
No it is cruel. Cats have claws for a reason!
Don't do it! Especially if your cat is older. They are already established how they stride and it could disrupt their balance. Also, declawing a cat is like cutting bad your finger down to the first knuckle. How would you like life without the tips of your fingers? Just research it out a bit. It really isn't a apt thing.
I agree
I think that declawing is beyond cruel. Most veterinarian offices tender laser declawing though, that may be an pain free option for you. They also sell Soft Claw pin caps at most pet stores, I've used them but my cats learned to bite them off..something to try out.

If you do prefer to declaw, leave the back claws on just surrounded by case your cat ever gets out or lost, that way the cat can protect itself.
What is your favorite cat breed?   I lately get a babe-in-arms tabby kitten(boy) and i involve name?   Vets: Was this incompetence and am I entitled to a settlement?   Funny/serious sound out in the order of my cat. please answer?
