Is My Cat Senile, or Angry beside Me?
I expect some smart alec answers. My cat is, neutered, 16 years old, and lives with two younger cats. He's other been a great cat. Last week, he urinated on my chest while I was sleeping in my bed. I yell at him and he seemed remorseful. This morning, he did it again. He has a clean litterbox, plenty of food and river, and I show him lots of love and attention. What gives? Can he be getting senile?
Some times when cats get older they take bladder problems and don't really have the option to get to the littler box. It could be something as simple as a Urinary Tract Infection or it could be something approaching a kidney problem. If its not normal behavior for him I would take to the vet for a check up, it might be nothing but its best to achieve it checked out.
Don't yell at him as it may not be his fault, he wont like relieving himself where on earth he shouldn't because he will realise its wrong too and will feel guilty,
Good luck.
Cats will SHOW you when something is wrong.
He may have the beginnings of a UTI and is having difficulty peeing.
I present my cats Cranberry pills .. (the small ones) about O size and coat with butter and place on the tip of my finger then poke it down the throat...
this mode they don't have the option of biting it or spitting it out.
Usually one or two pills works fast.
You can also put some lemon liquid (2 or 3 drops) in it's water.
Also cats sometime just go and get lazy.
I clean all area's next to alcohol... they don't like the smell and it kills all odor.
fitting luck >^..^< = my smart alec remark
It's possible, he could also have some sort of urinary tract infection though too. He needs to see a vet to rule it out, then turn from there. If the problem is behavioral, your vet can discuss possible medication to help if your kitty does not stop this issue.
arthritus. and she is having a hard time getting past its sell-by date the bed at night,[ put a few boxes next to the bed and be sure she know they are there] or a urinary tract infection. i hope its not that because she might pee on your head if it gets worse..lol! a urinary tract infection will mete out her to start peeing everywhere like every 5 minutes.hardly nothing comes out unsurprisingly because the infection only makes her feel close to she has to pee. so she pees all the time but just a few drops here and at hand...unless after a nap. anyway she will start to pee blood too. my guess is she is either senile or arthritus and after a few hours of napping next to you at night.her joints are very sore and its easier to pee on your chest!!.lol!.ive never hear of tsuch a thing.tooo funny! keep an eye on her pee pee behavior to see any signs of urinary tract infection. excessive peeing. keeps trying to pee but zilch comes out.that sort of stuff.
Answers: Yes you hav a geriatric cat. It's best to go to a vet if you haven't all the same this year. Cats like elderly people get something that requirements attention under a doctors care. Spraying white vinegar & water on your chest won't hurt your kitty...do wipe it so it doesn't despoil your chest. Cats don't like the smell.
