Is my roommate's cat is noticeably small?
I know the breed might have something to do with it, but I'm not sure whether my roommate's cat is abnormally small. I'm not sure what breed of cat she is, but she looks like Sylvester from Looney Toons. I've have several cats in the past and none of them have ever be as small as she is. My roommate even comments all the time about how he's worried something may be wrong with her. The other cat he have is two months younger, but is much bigger (they are 6 months and 4 months old I believe).
Is the breed of cat that looks like Sylvester normally a smaller breed of cat?
The little cat might have been the runt of the litter, or its growth spurt might be belated. Either way, I think its time for a vet check up so they can check its weight and prescribe food for it to grow. Why dont you propose that to your roomate and see what happens? Good luck!
Sylvester is an ordinary domestic shorthair that happens to be black and white. There is no "breed" - black and white is a color combination and many breeds (purebred and mixed) come surrounded by black/white.
But the cat could be a product of a lot of inbreeding or a very young mother. Some breeds tend to be smaller (siamese/oriental) next the average cat.
Answers: Kittens change in size. It is difficult to tell as they grow in spurts. If she really is concerned, she should be taking the kitten to the vet.
Will assume that she is feed it properly etc.
As long as the cat appears to be regular weight for her size then she is probably just small. We own a very small Siamese who is four years old and still looks like a kitten. The vet required her to get to five pounds before she spayed her (safer for anesthesia), but she came into grill at nine months at four pounds and we went ahead with the surgery. She has in fact gotten up to five pounds. she's adorable!
Love Sylvester--he must be very cute. Cats of all breeds range pretty widely surrounded by weight. (The "average" size adult cat is often quoted as 5-12 lbs, though we adjectives know larger cats & that's just an estimate). If he's alert and active, eating resourcefully and peeing/pooing normally, he should be ok. But definitely see a vet if you enjoy any concerns before his 1yr checkup...
For folks not familiar with Sylvester, here's a pic:

an exam by the vet can help. but know that all cats come surrounded by many sizes. 6lbs up to 20lbs. you never know how big the cat can get unless you have see the parents. i prefer the smaller sized cats.but my nieces hat weights 16lbs. i have never had a cat over the size 11 lbs. whether concerns presist yes visit the vet.
I have four 3 month old kittens and they are all different sizes. It may in recent times have been the runt of the litter, they usually are the smallest ones and generally stay smaller than normal their whole life. My runt looks conceivably 8 weeks old but she is healthy, eats well-mannered if not better than the others.
You say you feed them twice a sunshine, every 12 hours. There's your problem. Kittens need ALL the food they want. They will not get fat. They are growing and obligation extra nutrition. Give them all the food they want for now. Don't verbs about going to set meal times for another few months.
