My Cat Doesnt Recognize My other cat...?
I have 2 cats...I took one of the to the groomers.
When I returned home with the groomed cat, the other one hissed for 4 days at him...
I conjecture its because maybe the groomer put a smelly shampoo on him and thus my hissy cat didnt recognize him...but.both cats have great eyes..so why would this crop up?
Call the groomer and explain - they might not realise their product smells fruitless to cats.
Though cats do have the most peculiar ideas of what smells nice; they love valerian.
I had a cat who so loved porridge that I have to shut myself in the bathroom to do an oatmeal face pack - he'd swarm up my leg and lick all the stuff stale my face.
Quite a good exfoliating job though, beside that little rough tongue!
If this happens again you should try some scent exchanging when you get rear from the groomers. Take a clean cloth and rub it around the face of the cat who has be groomed (where its scent glands are) and then rub the same cloth around the face of the other cat. The moment cat should accept the rather different smell of the cat who has be groomed. Also, when you get them back together, throw down something tasty for them to guzzle so that they remember that being together is a good thing.
Answers: Cats don't go by sight for recognition - they run by smell. Their sense of smell is way superior to ours and your cat will be completely confused, as he normally knows what your other cat have for breakfast last week by how he smells.
Ask the groomers not to bath him unless it's necessary - surely a polite groom is all that's required?
Not only do they have eyes, they have ears too. There are adjectives kinds of clues to the identity of a cat.
I think your hissy cat just doesn't similar to the scent.
