My cat get huge adjectives of a sudden,why?

2 weeks ago my cat was normal sized and now I'm positive she have a growth spurt or something. She's not fatter, just bigger bones and stockier. I'm pretty sure she's a maine coon or a mix of one and she's 2 years 7 months... is that normal? I thought cats stop growing closer...
Our Tabby is 8 years old and weigh 20 lbs I like what you said "just bigger bones and stockier" I will start using that line when some one comments almost her weight.
