My cat is 8 years outdated, and sometimes she have a bm external the litter box. The litter box is never dirtyHelp?

She has been doing this occasionally for several years now. What's wrong? Her diet is matching, she continues to eat. I Need Help!
Maybe you should try training the cat

There must have been something that up set her when she started that. It won't pocket much to up set them. Just changing there litter to diffent brand will do it, or food or any thing.uld try training the cat
Get a 2nd litter box. Some cats like to pee in one box and poop in the other. If she's pooping surrounded by the same "spot", when she doesn't use her box, then put the 2nd ( new ) one over that spot!

Is your litter box hooded / covered? Some cats don't close to to use a covered box...it "traps" the odors from the previous poop, and cats don't like that. If yours IS covered, take the cover rotten, and see if that helps.

Just a couple of suggestions..Hope they work for you. Good luck.
um im gonna go with: train it
Usually it is because of a change in something: litter, food, moving to a new domestic, moving litter box, new cat/pet. You can always get several sprays to spray where she is going to discourage it.
How far from the litter box?

Watch her... I have some that sit on the rim of the box & hang their butts in - sometimes they face the wrong direction or capture too close to the edge.

You might try giving her a 2nd box, I have a few that like one box for peeing & one for pooping... in recent times a washtub from the Dollar Store works fine.

Answers:    Sometimes a cat will go outside the litter box whether it is constipated, because it begins to associate defecating in the litter box with discomfort. If constipation go on too long and isn't addressed, it may cause serious health problems. Consider taking her to the vet for a checkup. The first interconnect below has some information about constipation in cats.

If she checks out OK at the vet, you might consider getting a larger litter box - some cats close to to have a little more room to position themselves comfortably when having a bm, particularly as they get a little bit older and smaller amount flexible.

Sometimes cats just prefer to have one box to pee in and one to poop surrounded by - if you only have one litter box, please consider calculation another one. It might make a big difference.

Another couple of things to consider, if you're finding single pieces of poop rather than a pile: Sometimes cats who hold long or fluffy hair near their rear bring to a close can have poop 'hang on' to their fur and drop off elsewhere after they've exited the box. This can be solved by have the hair around the behind clipped short. Or, a cat can even have some feces involuntarily pop out sometimes whether she's old or constipated. This is an issue to discuss with your vet.

The second interconnect below has lots of good information about keeping cats positive with their boxes - it's long, but worth reading if you're having any trouble. Hope this help!
