My cat keep going to the bathroom external of the litterbox?
I have two males, who grew up together, I clean the litter box once a day.. I hold on to finding "poop" not "urine" right out side the box.. why could this be happening?
Definitely acquire a bigger box, I had to even before my male turned 1.
Sometimes cats, specifically males, tend to get territorial, and it's likely that they don't want to share the box anymore, so one or both of them are "going" external the box to avoid it. This might not have bothered them when they were younger, but does not that they're mature.
Animals use their "leavings" as a mark, like how dogs mark their territory on trees and what-not, consequently another dog will go over it, it's like writing their name on it, similar to we would.
My suggestion would be to try using a second box, in addition to the resourceful, or better yet, ask a vet about it.
Hope I was compassionate. =]
Answers: Improper elimination if repeatedly a symptom of illness. So best to take the "culprit" to the vets.
Litter box problems are completely frustrating for all..human and feline. Here's a link that you might find informative:

Good Luck!
My cat does that sometimes. It's cause he he starts to score his hole. Then he turns but miscalculates where he pooped. Then the next daylight he pooped in the shower because the outside of his litter box was dirty. Try getting a bigger box, perchance with taller sides? But if you do make certain the wall aren't TOO tall.Otherwise you'll wake up to an annoyed pussy cat who's been trapped next to his poop...
its all about territory and also cats are verbs animals..
even cats that have grown up together can dislike using a littler tray that another cat has used.. plus if in attendance is another cat using the box and you do not provide another box, that is another reason as to why they will use your floor.. because the other cat has made that litter box his domain that meaning the other cat has to poo outside of the box.
also as i mentioned earlier cats are clean animals and they will rather poo on the floor than poo in a litter tray near more than one or two poos in , whether that be there poo or another cats poo...
my suggestion for sorting this out is to place another cheap litter box some where obscured away from the other one..
and try every time your in the room removing all poo ( instead of waiting til the running out of the week) and flush it down the toilet and use fresh litter every 4-5 days...
if you think about it you wouldn't appreciate using a toilet near everybody poo in while be watched?
Maybe they need a bigger box, or one with higher sides. Perhaps they suppose they are in the box, but their back end is sticking out.
You could try asking your vet. Also you can get advice from Catworld magazine which is published monthly. They have a site call www.catworld.co.uk Good luck. Are your cats elderly?
Use 2 boxes.
