My cats are sick oblige?

My cats are sick and i am taking them to the vet today and i kinda want to know what could be causing this asap. So any ideas please give a hand. Thanks, ok symptoms are sudden dry sneezing, weakness, weight loss, clear eyes. 5 out of the 12 cats show these types of symtoms. 2 cats that are losing weight are outdoor cats and single 4 cats of the 12 go outside and its basically freshly in our backyard because we live in town.
feed em TUMS

LOL jk DO NOT DO THAT
If they are losing weight, it could be a little things, i.e., kidney disease, FIP (Feline Infectious Periontitis - not contageous, just infectious w/in the cat and ultimately fatal), there could be a secondary infection to their colds, or could be as simple as a a cold they freshly need to get over, but I would DEFINITELY get them to the vet ASAP since 5 are artificial in case it is something more serious. Outdoor cats can bring in fleas which can make happen anemia, dehydration, weight loss and the like.

Definitely get them to a vet ASAP. The most defensible vets are those that work with shelter animals - they always tend to own more compassion and understanding with financial situations as well and other seem to care more about really getting the cat in good health the first time as opposed to experimenting with different medications while the cats are still suffering.
Answers:    So sorry to hear your cats are ill. Upper respiratory problems are commonly highly contagious.

Thankfully you are taking them to the vet today to get a proper diagnosis. I do hope your vet will tender you a multi-cat discount. Many vets will do this, so ask in finance for this.

There are so many conditions that meet the symptom list that you describe. You did not mention whether your cats were vaccinated for several of them, but unfortunately not adjectives vaccines work 100%. You also did not mention if your cats are eating well. With upper respiratory conditions, frequently cats will not put away as they cannot smell their food.

One of the possibilities is Feline Calicivirus.Symptoms include, sneezing, loss of appetite and weight loss. Some cats with this disease will have runny eyes as well, and have a fever. You can read more going on for this condition by visiting: http://www.animalhealthchannel.com/calic...

Feline Herpes Virus is another possible cause for these symptoms. You can read more about it by visit:

Rhinotracheitis which is caused by the Herpes virus also causes the symptoms that you describe.

Secondary bacterial infections to viral conditions are frequently present, so antibiotic treatment will more than likely be prescribed.

Your vet will more than potential do blood tests to be able to make an accurate diagnosis.

Good luck near your kitties and hope that they will soon be on the mend with the right medication.

A vet bill for 12 sick cats ouch that's gonna hurt. I have no theory what that could be but it must be something contagious if that many are affected. I own one cat but shes pretty healthy so I can't help you sorry.
hey,

I guess it really depends on whether the are vaccinate or not. If they are, it could be as simple as a cold, if they are not, there is a whole document of thing that could match those symptoms and be that contagious...

I really hope it's the first! Good luck!
