You want to keep the cats separated until you can get them fixed. It doesn't matter to the cats that they are siblings and whether they can get to each other they WILL mate. I suggest you filch the male cat to your mom's house until the day of their appointment. They may be a little wretched but it will be better in the long run.
Keep them separated until both are neutered and spayed. Kittens as young as 4-5 months prehistoric can and do breed and get pregnant. Don't bet on him not knowing what to do.

Friend of mine had a 5 month old Siamese that be allowed to play with older unspayed females (she was a registered breeder beside show cats). One of the females came up pregnant. The 5 month old kitten was a daddy at 7 months frail - last time she allowed unneutered male kittens to play with adults.
Answers:    It's good that you're getting them both "fixed" on Wednesday. Your little girl is exhibiting signs of have her first heat. Your male may not be ready YET, but he soon will be. Getting them fixed this week will create better pets out of both...no spray/marking from him, no kittens from her! Not to mention that breeding brother to sister is a NO NO!!

They don't need to be separated, since they're going to the vet this week. She has to "accept" him, and won't do that until just the right time within the "cycle". Since he's not paying any attention to her, she must not be quite "ready", yet, and he just hasn't matured as summarily as she has! THAT'S GOOD!!

Don't put off getting them fixed. It sounds like you've made these appointments only just in the "nick of time".

When they get domestic from the vet, try to keep them from running around for a day or so. SHE may try to take her stitches out, so formerly you take her home, go to the pet store and bring some "Bitter Apple" spray. Spray all around her incision, and NEITHER of them will bother it. That stuff tastes terrible, so they'll set off the incision site alone. You may even want to put it on the little male, too, if he starts to "mess" with his incision!

Hope this help...Good luck.

Enjoy your kittens.they grow up waaaaaaaay too fast!
If you can have her spayed this week, don't worry more or less separating them. It won't matter. If you can't get her in that soon, separate them. Lots of vet give multi-cat discounts for things like spay/neuter. See if yours will. Having them fixed will not solitary stop them from having kittens, it will protect them from diseases and infections of the reproductive tract and keep them for spraying urine to mark their domain. Females usually hit puberty at an earlier age than males do. He probably hasn't hit it yet.
Well nov. 5th is pretty soon. You don't necessarily want to take the other cat to your moms. But no its not that he is too young he knows what to do. But generally when your cat is in heat she is kind of aggresive and whether hes smaller then her he probably is not big enough to take control of her similar to a older cat could.
i would try and seperate them until then. just to be on the secure side. and good for you for spaying and neutering :)
