Question almost getting a untried kitty ?
I currently have one cat. We had two, but our other one unfortunately passed absent. Leo, our kitty now is a male and he's almost a year.
He's so hyper and nimble, but after this loss he seems out of place and lonely. We would like to catch him a new friend to up his spirit[:
Any suggestions on what type of gender to get ?
Leo is a mannish tabby cat.
Also, any suggestions about what type of cat ?
We don't want to get a black cat, because our old cat be black and it would just bring back so much.
I would suggest a female cat around the same age. Males tend to be territorial and will fracas or at the least not get along. You should try your local animal shelter. There are plenty of cats that need a honourable home. When you find the right cat you will know. Good Luck.
Either gender or age is fine, but you'll enjoy to make sure he's fixed. Intact male cats don't generally like it when you introduce males, and will never leave females alone.
My best advice is to return with an adult cat, though. Kittens are just like puppies within that their personalities can't be perfectly gaged until they grow up, and the new cat might extremity up growing to have a problem with Leo. If you get an full-grown cat, the humane society will be able to tell you with confidence whether it like other cats or not.
basically get the cat you think is right, most likely a cat one and the same age or younger would be preferred. :) any gender will do, since theyre both young. get a white kitty... i love those
you should get a male. Leo would similar to it better to have another male playmate. and you shouldn't get a long hackle cat- they may be pretty, but where there's hair there's more hair.
Answers: Pretty much any cat should fit in your domestic, color, and breed or type shouldn't matter, an older female is the just type I would advise against, as they are sometimes territorial and may not want a friend. Younger female or male would work, or even a mannish his age or a bit older would be ok too.
I would get a cat around the same age, so they own the same activity level, and read up on cat introductions until that time introducing the two so that it goes smoothly.
Good luck, sorry about losing your friend.
