Stressed Cat...Stressed owner?
My cat has been effectively bullied by another cat and I'm at a loose end on how to kind my cat better. He is stressed and doing the following: abandoning his litter tray for weeing and wees everyday in corner of room, in fireplace, somewhere. Sits up high, very clingy, always miaowing, drinks a bit more than usual. Ive tried letting him out at a set time of the day, now im trying to keep him within. He goes mad, so i let him out and later he goes out + rushes back in = consequently wants out again. I've tried to put white spirit, his food, his litter tray, his bed, cirtus smells, calming hormonal sprays where he have weed and he wees on all of them (yes even his food). I've tried being extra affectionate, ive tried to rub wee on the cat flap to deter other cats, ive tried to shut him absent in a room from the door the cat is scratching at (he just wees contained by the other room). Any other suggestions? A cat behaviourist is at a loss as to what else to try and he has been medically tested for most things and nothing have come back... :-(
Ps. i KNOW it sounds like im changing my practice with him but all of those things were tried contained by turn and for some time.
there is an easy style to sort this out it is just to sit down and relax don't do anything just make certain you are treating it right then you will be fine and just keep unmoved and if you ask any more questions then i will hopeful answer them for you because i resembling to help people and their troubled animals
Well stop everything and try to see what he wants. steal the cover of the litter box and put in the spot he gose the most in. When this started did you change anything whether so go back to what you were using in the past this started. other then that I don't know. If you have to put a litter box in more consequently one place. it might help.
If all medical possibilities have been ruled out, speak beside your vet about putting him on an anti anxiety medication. I have a cat who's very anxious and grooms herself excessively as a result. Anti anxiety medication have made a world of difference for her, and the same therapy has proven successful surrounded by cases of inappropriate elimination. My cat was for a time more lethargic than normal for the first couple of weeks on the meds, but quickly go back to her old self once she adjusted to the medication. I haven't notice any side effects and she's a much calmer, happier cat now. If you do start him on a drug therapy, be lenient and give the medication time to work. It was about a month since I saw a change in my cat's grooming behavior.
Is he neutered? If not that would sustain with some of these problems. Also, maybe you should look into changing his food? He could be defective in something. I'm not really sure, the only point I could think of is he may be sick or have gotten a disease. You said tests come back negative but sometimes you need a few opinion. Example: my parents' dog was sick, and the regular vet couldn't figure out what was wrong. So they took her to another vet and they found out she have a cyst/puss ball in her uterus and needed surgery. So maybe try to catch another opinion as well from a different veterinarian. You may even want to find a holistic veterinarian in your nouns who can give your cat natural remedies to help next to his anxiety.
Answers: It sounds to me like he has a urinary tract infection. Classic symptoms are going in and out, peeing surrounded by an unusual spot and appearing stressed. Take him to the vet and get him checked out.
