What compassionate of cat should we grasp ?
We have a mouse problem in our basement (we live within front of the woods) and want to get an outdoor cat to take care of the mice surrounding our house so they don't carry a chance to get inside. Should we put cat food outside and risk have a feral cat colonies outside of our house or do something else ? We don't really want a cat in the house (we have a be set to doggy and don't like shedders). Please answer quickly we need assist fast !
Well whether you hav a mean doggy and and dont like shedders you cant have an indoor or outdoor cat because your dog could efficiently attack the outdoor cat..and all cats except the hairless cat sheds...so dones seize a cat jsut for mouse problems b/c they will kill the mouse but u will most likley have to clean it up and it will be gross...the smell fomr adjectives the dead mouse will be icky and the cat may not evn cahse the mouses...look for some other way...Smoke bombs..BUt if you are really desperat you entail to find somone who like trains the cats to ctah mouse cause cats dont always do so dont win some random cat...thanks!!
Don't get a cat, buy a mouse trap. Get some rat poison too, and hold the dog in the house for a while. Keeping a cat outside for all of its natural life isn't much of a pet, more like a vacuum for mice. If you're not willing to care for a cat and the vet issues that will ensue I would skip the step and invest within some mice traps, they work really well and you'll be able to TELL if they're working.
Answers: Cats are domestic animals - pets - not pest control. If you have a vermin problem within your home, call a pest control service.
FYI - dogs shed FAR more than cats do.
I assume you should put cat food outside. It may attract other things though. We had cat food outside. We have a skunk hanging around after that. If you get a cat it might just run absent. It won't be used to the area and it won't know your house from the one down the road. Or it may find its way back to be you got it from. I think in the ending, your best bet is to set traps. They won't attract skunks or any other pests. They will just get rid of the ones that you have.
IMO if you want a mouser you need to go to a local cultivator and inquire about any older kittens/young cats. Problem is that if you travel with an adult cat the chances are they will steal off to go "back home". With a kitten, you really enjoy no one to teach how to really hunt.
I'd just bring a few mouse traps or the bait stuff like D-Con. Since you don't want the cat inside and have a mean dog, and don't close to shedding I really would not even get a cat.
First of all, whether you get your cat spayed or neutered, you don't risk contributing to the feral cat population. Second, you have no model how long an outdoor cat is going to last- there are too many uncontrollable circumstances. If you want pest control, you obligation to call a professional or invest in some mouse traps.
Any cat is accurate at getting mice. But make sure that the cat you get is certainly an outdoor cat...don't go to a shelter and get an indoor cat because they will get bearing too stressed if outside for long. Be sure to inoculate the cat and microchip him/her so she doesn't get diseases from the mice and other animals (she/he will also catch birds). Microchip so that if someone finds them, they can find your info.
couple corn snakes. Friendly snakes throw em surrounded by your basement. They rarely bite & they will love all the mice they can obtain =]
sounds like it could be pasture mice.they like sweets! get the sticky mouse traps and put some gumdrops and sugar candy on them the mouse will stick to it after kill it somewhere !it works if you use bait the mouse could die in your walls and start to stink and the traps hurt them and you can hear them screaming
