I think wild animals should be left contained by the wild. There are too many domesticated animals overflowing our shelters as it is. Let's give them homes first and foremost.

It depends on the situation. I know of people who hang on to wild animals such as wolves or foxes as pets, because they were originally taken in as rescue animals and be unable to be rehabilitated. These individuals are trained and educated to look after the animals in their carefulness. I myself have had various manic animals as pets. Most recently, a seagull. Natural Resources wouldn't take him, and neither would the vets. So I wrapped his broken wing and care for him myself. I've also had a squirrel, a crow, and a sparrow. Sometimes, the situation can't be helped, and the wild animals surrounded by question are quite happy as pets.
I find it rock-hard to condemn these particular people, because lots species, from fish to reptiles, are wild caught and sold as pets. Then there are other circumstances to consider. I wouldn't judge anybody short knowing the full details of the situation.
They are doing it for the novelty, because these types of cats are NOT PETS, period.
