What do you presume should be done to family who mistreat animals?

I think they should put them on a leash and tie them up contained by their backyard for a few weeks. Somebody can throw them some dog food every once in a while. I can't stand people who mistreat animals. I don't know how anybody could do that. Good luck. =]
That story is horrifying. I think people who are cruel to animals enjoy something mentally wrong with them - isn't that an early signal of adjectives acts of escalating cruelty associated with the behavior, the worst case of serial killer? They have something wrong with them and that issue addressed beside counseling/mandatory supervised service at a SPA, as well has heavy civil penalty (fines with the money going to humane societies) should be used to deter and prevent future occurrences.
If abandonment occurs because they cannot afford to get veterinarian care for their pet consequently they should drop the pet off at a SPA. They shouldn't have the privilege of a pet if they can't cart adequate care of it.
They should be mistreated also, then fined, then left to fend for themselves approaching some of these animals.
Recently, a dog was stolen and put into a specially made box, with the top screwed shut, later dumped in a lake in the forest. It be only by coincidence that two hunters were out and heard the splash and crying and be able to remove the box before the dog drowned. Chances are, nobody will ever be punished, because nobody witnessed what happened.
If I ever found out who did it, I deduce I might want to make a box of my own. And find a much deeper body of water...
Wish they could own exactly the same done to them that they did to the animal shame it can't happen
I believe animal abuse, cruelty, recklessness should be brought before the courts and treated as a felony instead of a misdemeanor.With a minimum sentence of two years in jail and upward.
1. They can't be allowed to have any pets ever again
2. They necessitate to have supervised, mandatory education & community service at an animal shelter. Make sure she see every case of animal cruelty that comes in.
If nothing is done & they are simply fined, they won't know/won't realize what they did was wrong.
Hang them!! Or maybe skinned them alive.

Whatver they do to the animals, someone should do the same thing to them. See how they feel.
IMO it should be an eye for an eye. In authenticity, they should get heavy fines, jail time, and afterwards be sentenced to 6 month's community service in an animal shelter. They are scum.
They should return with treated the same way.
Answers: They should be prohibited from having any sort of pet *for life*
If they have children they should be assighned a social worker for a period of time, because abuse or neglecting helpless animals shows the same mentality.
I think those should have to have some sort of licence to own a pet.
They would have to show:
That they enjoy a suitable home for the type of pet they want.
That they understand it's care desires.
What it will cost to feed, that they can afford medical care or pet insurance.
It would be difficult to police, but at least it might trade name people think more carefully going on for which pet is the right one for them, that they can afford and cope with.
