What do you focus of a cat on valium?

I recently got my cat back from the vet next to a prescription of valium and perscription food (urinary health). Supposedly The valium is supposed to make him eat more. I didn't really understand that because he weigh 17 pounds. Seeing him on that has to be the most funny thing I have see in a long time, lol. He was already really, really mellow.

I was in recent times wondering what you guys think about a cat being on valium?
I didn't even have any idea that cats could be on valium...
I guess whether your vet recommended it, it should be fine. I just find it odd because i've never heard of it beforehand.
If it's short-term use only I don't own a problem with it. I haven't researched cats and Valium so I don't know what side effects there might be, but I'll just assume that your vet know what he or she is doing in this area.

What puzzles me is why she thinks your cat requirements help with his appetite? It sounds like he go in with urinary issues. Cats with urinary problems don't typically own loss of appetite, I don't think. But once again, I can only assume that your cat does have a loss of appetite. That can be completely dangerous for cats, especially overweight ones.

Or perhaps she think your cat will need help in accepting the fresh food. You'd have to ask her.

Bottom line, if it's a short-term entity then it's probably ok.
Answers:    My friend's cat be put on valium because it would chew on its own tail. However, for your situation id take it to a new vet and find a second opinion.
Hi there,
if your cat has be getting bladder infections or stones it can be related to stress and may be why your vet put him on the Valium. Hope he is better soon :-)
