What does it be going to when cats do this?
Just recently when I went into my room I realized my skylight was open and the wind be scaring my cat, so I closed it for her, got her some fresh water, give her her food, and a few cat treats. After when I was just standing there she come up to me and started purring, circling around my legs, and rubbing her face/body against them. I know that purring is a sign of happiness and rubbing is a sign of affection, but what does the circling mean? Do you think it be her way of saying thank you? Do cats know that you're taking care of them?
aww she wants you to pet her! my cat does this when she wants attention( and mainly friskies)! though my cat doesn't know how to do it right she not quite touches me:)
she be "marking" you. they have a thingy in their cheeks that exudes a scent and the stuff they want to be marked as their's, they rub it similar to that
Answers: The circling is that she be smearing her smell on you; that's what a cat is doing when she rubs her head on you. She's marking you as her human. The reason she go round and round your legs is that it was the easiest way to smear more of her smell on as much of you as possible.
Yes, I do think she be saying thank you. It was as if she be saying, "Thank you for protecting me, Mommy." You have a very sweet kitty. :-)
