What is the best passageway to hold on to stray cats out of the courtyard?
I'm looking for a fast, non-toxic and inexpensive solution, preferably from someone who has had nouns with preventing them from entering into their yard. I have a fenced courtyard, and having two large dogs does not deter the cats from coming in. Tragically, the dogs hold killed 3 cats already that came into the yard.
I stand watch for them armed with my garden hose!
I hold a cat, she is indoor/outdoor and I love cats, but the neighbors cats come over and bully her and sh*t in my vegetable garden...it's funny cause my cat will sit there subsequent to me while I'll hose a neighbors cat and she just seems to be like "yeah, I love my human!" The hosed cats don't acquire hurt, and I don't blast them with high pressure, just a rushed squirt, doesn't even have to touch them and they get pretty scared and appropriate off...they don't seem to come back habitually, when they do, I hose 'em and their good for at least another couple of weeks...lol...=)
You can buy wolf urine scent from most gardening shops. That may deter the cats; but I'm not sure how your dogs would react.
Other than that, the suggestion approximately spraying them with the hose is a good one, just time consuming.
You could also try disappearing food for the cats OUTSIDE the fence; then perhaps they won't surface the need to go any further.
Answers: grasp some of those office chair runners with the spikes on them and put them on the parimeter of your courtyard and cat's won't like the feel of that on their feet and they won't come surrounded by your yard anymore. it's not going to hurt the cats.
Ugh!
I have this problem with my neighbor, who takes within like all the neighborhood strays! Fine and dandy, except they adjectives come to * in my yard. I have a toddler, and own to do the rounds picking up crap whenever we go play outside!
Ive tried hosing them, but they dont care, tehy merely come back
I heard sprinkling cayenne pepper on the ground where they frequent.I own yet to try this, but it sounds like it could work!
Also heard of burying rose bush clippings where on earth they poo, that way they try to scratch and get pricked (and shouldnt do it again)
I get a humane cat trap to try and catch them, but apparently, the little bastards are too smart for it!

Talk about culling the flock of the dumb ones... Yikes! You'd think cats would be more wary of big dogs. I think the association below has good ideas that might give a hand you keep the rest safe. You might also want to look into "neuter & release" programs surrounded by your area. That really goes a long way contained by humanely keeping the feral kitty population down.
You set little traps that clamp down on their paws as soon as they step foot in your courtyard. That'll scare them and keep them away.
