When a cat scratch you, why does the cut become puffy and burning?

because of an infection known as cat chisel fever. its caused whenever a cat scratched you and has germs and/or germs underneath its toenails
^^^ Listen to her. She know more about it than I do. =)
Because you may be having an allergic reaction to the cat. Not necessarily the cat, but the cat's saliva. The cat doesn't own to lick you though. Or it's just a minor cut that's trying to heal.
But if you want to verbs it up, a family member who's a nurse told me to put 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and water on it. Plain hydrogen peroxide will verbs the healed tissue.
It's from the bacteria on the claw. That only happen to me if I don't put Neosporin on it right away or clean it all right.
Cat scratch disorientation. My husband's mom almost lost her foot from getting scratched. If you have puffiness, burning, etc, and gets worse or really swells up you stipulation to go to a hospital or urgent care center. You'll likely simply get heavy antibiotics and if you're lucky, throbbing meds. If its not treated in time, you seriously could lose a limb. Ive heard in the region of it in other people.
it is infection contained by the scratch put alcohol on it or peroxide
Cat scratches can easily become infected,as they are surrounded by their litterbox and such. The body is trying to fight the infection by sending blood to the injured area.the best thing to do is mop up the cut in warm soapy water and rinse capably, then pat dry
I would wash next to antibacterial as cats claws can have lots of germs and your body is reacting to those germs. I always rinse the scratch with hot water and lots of soap..Hope your mark gets better and have their claws trimmed by your vet that might help downsize the scratches too :)
when a cat scratches you.. you must apply some peroxide or alcohol to remove any bacterial because cat have alot of bacterial from in attendance cat litter. and whenever you have a fresh cut of scratch it alway get puffy bring it fresh.
I know that it happen to me because I am allergic to their dander and saliva. When they scratch, it gets into your skin faster and can increase the reaction.
its your body fighting of the bacteria and other repulsive stuff from the cats claws. its the bodys natural defense of inflammation. its totally normal and is a self preservation mechanism.
Answers:    Cats have more and different bacteria than you or I or even dogs. Cat scratches and bites are disgraceful for getting infected.

There are some things you can do for cat scratches and bites.

Right after you're bitten or scratched, wash the affected nouns with soap and water for at least 5 minutes, making certain you clean it out as well as you can. Afterwards, you can apply hydrogen peroxide if you'd close to. Next, cover the wound in anti-biotic ointment and then cover that beside loose gauze or a bandage. If you're not up on your tetanus shots - go to the doctor and get one ASAP.

For scratch, just keep an eye out on the wound, as scratches are smaller number likely to do real, serious damage to you. However, whether the scratch gets seriously infected: GO TO A DOCTOR! Don't mess around.

For a bite: monitor the wound carefully. If it shows any signs of an infection - GET TO A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY! Cat bites are death-defying and many people who've ignored infections from cat bites hold had to spend days or weeks in the hospital later.
It's call the Poo-Poo Puffies.

You can wash it, use hydrogen peroxide, or nothing at all. It's merely a cat scratch, you'll get over it.
When a cat uses the litter box, it gets poo, and pee residue in it's nail. Then, when it scratches you, it gets in your skin and later it makes it burn because of anything it could've gotten from a litter box.
Because cat bury their poop with their claws too.
Not very pleasant stuff to get within an open cut.
It's called "cat scratch fever". It because of all the yucky crap found contained by cat claws, stuff like the poop from it's litter box and other stuff it picks up while it roams around terrorizing mice and birds and things.
Cats apparently have some sort of toxin on there claws, that's what i've heard.
cats claws harbor bacteria and so scratches become slightly infected sometimes. the best article to do is to wash the cut as soon as possible with anti-bacterial soap.
some cats can have microbes in their blood which is passed on through fleas, when they lick their paws it can transfere the bacteria and when they scrath you it can infect you. it is call cat-scratch disease. its not serious to healthy people. http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/...
