Why does my 1 yr older cat attack my 8 month kitten?
I just got my kitten a couple days ago, and my 1 yr old feminine (fixed) cat charges, hisses, growls (hope you know what i mean), and claws at him. My 8 month kitten (fixed as well) just wants a friend, but she just keep attacking him and such. I'm really worried that something might happen to my kitten. Please help!! :(
Its just normal i be set to the older cat always do like that..my cats too,.do that ..they consider that the kitten will fight against her...
It'll take awhile for the older cat to grasp used to the kitten. Perhaps the kitten is being to playful or rough, and the adult just desires to be left alone. Maybe the older cat wants the kitten to know that it is the boss. Your kitten should be fine. It basically needs to learn its boundaries, and the older cat will inculcate it. Just let them be. :)
Answers: They've only be together a couple of days!! It can take weeks sometimes for cats just to become tolerable of each other. Because they are still immature, I'm guessing they probably will become good playmates, but it takes time. Mean while, just agree to them establish the pecking order and don't play favorites.
I have six cats of my own. They vary within ages. So anyway, I really know what your talking about near these types of behaviors. About a month ago now. I brought in more kittens. They were both save from sure death. One of my babies, named Echo, be tossed out of a car window and was found underneath a semi resting on one of it's tires trying to keep warm ( the truck was within a parking lot ). Anyway, believe it or not this behavior from your older cat is completely normal even if your cat seem to want to bite the head off the little. It's very territorial behavior. Your two cats want to be introduced slowly. A little bit at a time. This could take up to three weeks before your older cat decide everything is good now. I won't try to kill you anymore little one. Your cat will find out that this kitten is not trying to steal it's nouns away and things like that. Cat's are naturally enormously territorial. That's why they are always rubbing themselves on everything. The rubbing shows love to it's mommy or daddy but is also marking it's territory, stating..STAY OUT! Believe it or not but your cats will become friends of late the way you wanted it to be. But patience and have to listen to the snarling, growling, hissing, attacking.is a very hard thing to do. What I did be I kept my kittens in my bedroom and the other cats were free to roam the house. I wouldn't let my grown cats in for at least two days ( this was knotty for them because my bedroom is their favorite place to be so that they could sleep on top of me at night.my bed is not mine.it's their bed now. I hold to sleep on the floor now..just kidding! HA! HA! ). Then I little by little started to let them in. Letting them sniff the kittens and things like that. Boy, did they hatred those kittens for about 2 weeks or even a bit longer. My older cats also wanted their bedroom put a bet on so I believe that as I kept letting them in a little at a time they realized that, Hey, whether we all get along them we get our room hindmost and the whole house. So know they all love each other. So it adjectives worked out in the end. So get primed to get a lot a patience during this introduction time. You will finally take to enjoy your cats soon. Sorry I wrote a book here. Guess I got a bit carried away. Good Luck!!
