Why does my cat incessiantly meow?
He's 16 yrs old. He seems perfectly on form. He's done this for the majority of his life. He'll just sit in the middle of the room & meow until you respond, but I consistency if I respond that I'm encouraging his incessant meowing. It's driving me CRAZY!
i have a couple of cats that always meow and dont stop. i think its only just their personality. and thats how they get you to pet them. my cat drives me crazy too but thats how he is. cats do that to get attention thats adjectives.
Have the vet do a senior check up on him to rule out any medical issues. As cats get older, the become vulnerable to adjectives kinds of health issues. Your kitty may be suffering from dementia or he could just want attention. Call the vet soon to be certain.
After 16 years of this, why is it suddenly "driving me CRAZY!)?
You don't say what the breed of your cat is, but some breeds (Siamese and other Orientals) are NOTORIOUSLY VOCAL.. It's part of the pack of their "charm"!! I have 10 Siamese / Himalayan crosses, and they "talk" to me ALL THE TIME...
Also, a 16 year old cat is .. 80 .. in "human" years, so you might want to consider taking him contained by for a "wellness" checkup, just to be sure that there's nothing "going on" near him, that he's TRYING to make you AWARE of! Since cats are really good about hiding their illnesses until it's nearly too late, it might be a good idea to enjoy him checked out..BEFORE that happens..
Hope this helps.Good luck to BOTH of you...
Your cat could need something like food or attention.
Answers: Some breeds are a lot more vocal than other breeds of cat. Also it may be his identity. You are correct by thinking you are encouraging his behaviour, he has bookish that (eventually) meowing gets him attention. Try paying more attention to him when he is being quiet. But, he's 16, it may be pretty tough to break him of this habit at his age. How old a kitten is when they are separated from their mother sometimes influences how much a cat meows when it grows up. I have one cat that meows adjectives the time and three that almost never meow, sorry but you may be stuck with the "talking". Try talking put money on to him.
