Why wont my cats go and get any better at getting along?

I got a new kitten about two and a partially weeks ago. We knew that my older cat would not get along at first, but we did not reflect that it would take this long for the cats to get along. My older cat keep hissing and growling at my kitten and we dont know how to help the two get along. Please help me.
beside an older cat it could take up to a month, they are so set in their ways. He'll eventually come out of it.
Just give them time to bond it won't be overnight or it may not happen at adjectives we have 3 cats cat 1 gets along with cats 2 and 3, cat 2 get along with cat 1 and not with cat 3, cat 3 get along beside cat 1 and try's to be playful with cat 2, cat 2 wants nothing to do next to cat 3 it has been like this for 6 years or longer.

I hope you hold better luck than we did it's just a way of life for these cats here. Other society with multi-cats seam to have no problem and I'm sure some society do have problems with there pets not getting along.
Answers:    Two and a partially weeks isn't very long, so just be patient. Cats can pinch a while to warm up to each other, but eventually they will settle down. The most important entry to do for now is make sure the elder cat doesn't hurt the kitten - although they usually don't, they just make alot of fuss afterwards hide to sulk. Also, try to watch that the kitten doesn't annoy the older cat too much. There's not much else you can do confer both cats lots of attention and wait. I've had cats I thought would never get along, and they concluded up doing just fine. Good luck!
I found two stray kittens and I bought cat food for them but I don't know how much to nurture them.
