Will my cats be o.k. external while I'm absent on trade?
I am going to be away for 5 nights. I have be taking care of two outdoor cats since they were born in my shed. They stay external all of the time, so I am not worried about them getting cold. It only drops into the lower 40's at hours of darkness. They have shelter where they sleep(sometimes). I am mostly worried about their food supply. I nurture them once a day in the morning. I am thinking while i'm away to start out five food bowls up high (where they can reach) in my shed with the door unambiguous a little. Will they find the food, and will they not eat it all at once?
they should be shift out door cats can catch there own food if they inevitability to i have a cat he usualy comes inside but hell go out side for a week before he comes put money on some of the time
Hi as I grew up with cats I think I know them well adequate to say that although they will survive for 5 days, I think because their used to their routine of guaranteed food once a day they may be a bit confused. Put out as much food as you can and as long as they can achieve it they will definately smell it and itl keep them going till you return. They will be absolutely fine but prepare for loads of attention from them when you return !
They should be fine on their own outdoors. Be careful leaving that much food out though, it might attract raccoons which can be agressive towards the cats. You might see whether a neighbor could come by and refill the bowls for you each day.
Problem is that if the food is left out for them, you will own "helpers" of skunks and raccoons too. I'm not sure what to tell you. If you can, put the extra food up superior where the coons/skunks cannot get to it easily and put together sure the cats can get to the food.
Leave PLENTY of water. Cats involve more water then food. If they are outside, they can hunt too to give support to feed themselves.
Answers: at hand noses should get them to the food. The pet feeder would be a good theory also. They normally only eat til full. If you hold a old cat carrier or large box you can put contained by the shed with old towels or something like that for additional shelter if it gets colder. Have you had them fixed? so you don't enjoy any little ones! most local shelters can work with you on the spay cost. They can also give you ideas on trying to bring them inside whether that is something you want. My two started outside until they were 6 or 7 weeks antiquated. Once they got use to people they are fine with us, one will come out next to others one will not.
Thank You for helping them out!
cats put away only what they need... they don't gorge.
yes they will find it.
If you own ants make a mote so they can't get to the dry food.
good luck
try and ask a neighbor to help you.
Cats can get hurt outside, someone could steal them too and take them to the pound and they will be put to sleep!! Be carefull!!
Id never permit my kitty out.
go to walmart contained by the pet section and you can get a feeder that you can fill beside food for them and they will eat as needed hopefully no other animals will be able to get to the food also not certain if you are feeding them water as in good health but you can also get a waterer so that they can be provided with fresh river while you are gone as well...did you ever think of re-homing or finding them a home? they really deserve to be within a loving warm home, but thanks for taking right care of them to this point
