my dog 10 months old yorkie, she had left cherry eye... and its be there since 7 months, I have bring her to the vet and the vet said it's normal nil to worry about, but I am worry because it's does not progress a way since 7 months, is eye cherry going be side effect if she does not have eye surgery as vet said it's not inevitability?...
if it is a cherry eye then you want to go to another vet immediately !!
Left untreated it could cause blindness whether it has not already
Cherry eye is NOT normal.it's exceptionally painful and does not go away on it's own. What character of vet would tell you that? Nearly all dogs with cherry eye obligation to have surgery.
Answers: Well if you're really worried then consult another vet...but from what i've researched...
Surgery is the usual treatment. Older methods of cherry eye correction (before the gland's purpose was known) involved simply removing the gland, but this is a last-resort procedure nowadays, and necessitates the use of eyedrops for the rest of the animal's life. Modern methods of cherry eye correction involve repositioning of the gland to its normal location. The nouns rate of this type of surgery is around 80% in most breeds.
Plus cherry eye is NOT painful..but if it last long then it can irritate the dog's tear gland which can lead to infections...but whether your vet is not worried...then i consider surgery, which im sure you have.
