A examine approximately house-breaking?

We purchased a darling corgi at 4 months. She was from a puppy mill and she broke our hearts, have been crated for almost all of her life span. Do you think this is why we are having problems house training her? She goes external fine, but that is because we are trained to take her out a specific intervals, but we are still finding "accidents" in-between times. She's a smart little gal, but only just not getting this!
YOUR fault-NOT the pup!!

CONFINE it when not under DIRECT SUPERVISION!
Crating is NOT "mean"...it keep dogs (& house & contents)SAFE !
We crate trained our puppy (which we get at 6weekseks old). From the books & internet sources I read when potty training & crate training our puppy most said that a dog will have accidents whether the "space" is too big. We had put a "piddle pad" in the back of our puppies crate when he be still very small & we couldn't get home during the hours of daylight to let him out. Eventually, as he grew, so did his bladder & we could remove the "piddle pad" (we also did this when he started eating it instead of using it to pee). It could be that her crate is too large for her "home". Try using a smaller crate, but whether that doesnalleviateate the problem, use a "piddle pad" in her crate - that would at least make verbs up easier. She's a puppy, eventually she will get the hang of it.

Another example: Our older dog used to be locked into our bedroom during the sunshine. At one point he started peeing in front of the window while we were at work (he never have accidents while we're at home). The vet told us it was because his space was too big. He is very soon crated & we don't have any problems.
Answers:    EDIT Again: I know that you didn't do the thumbs down, I was just wondering why someone gave it thumbs down.
EDIT: Ok, so you crate train. You should be watching her 24/7 unless she is surrounded by her crate. Accidents need to be prevented.

Here is some more info about crate training, if you own any questions about it, just add on details to your question, and I will gladly answer questions!

Below are Crate Training/House Training Tips.

When you are going away the house, or going to bed for the night, do the following. Never actually shove the dog in the crate, any throw treats in there, or sqeek a toy and put it in nearby. The dog will eventually learn that they have to go surrounded by, if you place them in front of the crate, and say the word.. Place the dog surrounded by the crate, along with some safe toys. Close the door, give a treat, and say aloud your crate command.(Such as, night night, crate, or bed). Leave.
**I DO NOT SUGGEST CRATING PUPPIES THAT ARE YOUNGER THAN 12 WEEKS**
Repeat slowly extending the time, and make certain you leave time between kennel times, to spend with your puppy. Never expect your puppy to stay in his kennel longer than the age he is contained by months plus one. (example, if your puppy is 5 months old, only give notice it in there for 6 hours. No dog/puppy should stay in it's kennel longer than 7-8 hours.

Rules:
1.Try to inculcate them that their crate is a good place. Reward them when you place them in the crate. This is teaching them, that a treat comes beside good crate behavior. Always keep your dog in the crate, unless you can hold a good eye on him.
2. Another option, if you do not want to place your dog within the kennel all of the time, hook his leash to your belt loop, this way he can not go past its sell-by date and use the restroom somewhere, and you don't know about it.
3.Always take him outside after;(ON A LEASH); rough play, after he eat or drinks, after being let out of his crate, after he wakes up after a hours of darkness or if he is,
sniffing, staring at you, whining, or sitting at the door.
4.Don't ever hit your dog, or rub his nose in his mess. This will a moment ago teach the dog to be afraid of you.
5.Don't feed him or give him to much hose down, before you plan to put him in his cage.
6.Don't expect your dog to hold it's restroom, more than the age of the dog surrounded by months, plus one. But no dog should have to hold it's bladder more than a 7-8 hours.
7.Be patient!! That is the key, to housetraining. Of course whether you get too overwelmed, you can always buy a book, or ask a professional trainer!
8.Always, when he goes to the bathroom ouside, furnish lots of praise and treats!!
9. If you expect your puppy to go outside, and dont use puppy pad when he gets older, starting out with puppy pad, is not a good idea, because this trains them that it's ok to go inside, and later before they know it, they cant, it is to confusing for them.
10. Work out a schedule that fits your lifestyle. Feed your dog the same time every hours of daylight.
11.When you go outside, stay outside until he uses the restroom.
12. Dogs while first potty training, obligation to go outside every 2-3 hours.
13.Do not make the dog smell his mess, strike him or lock him ouside. This will basically confuse the pup, and it might be afraid of you.
14. Ignore whining, unless you KNOW that he/she has to go to the bathroom.
Good Luck!

EDIT:Why the thumbs down?
My niece is own trouble with her young dog but not at her home but her mother's. We own used the paper and rubbing their nose in it past we put the puppy outside. A news paper will brand name a lot of noise but not hurt her.
If she was in a crate that long, then crate training may be pointless. She is probably desensitized to lay in her own feces and urine. I was watching It's the dog or me on Animal planet. I have to enunciate that show has a lot of good pointers. An owner have a similar problem. They put their dog on a tandem lead attached to them and the dog. That way the dog was never out of their verbs when they were home and when the dog started to go, they be ankle to distract her to stop her from going and get her outside. It took a couple of weeks, but it worked for them.
The Mrs. always slapped my nose with a rag :)
The dog can be house trained. As for the technique, I have several to choose from in my book. I am sending you nearby because at this age, several issues can crop up and you have not given enough detail for me to know which issue you are dealing with. In the burglary chapter you will find how to work to house train a dog (at any age). How to deal with house training regression. How to deal near submissive peeing and greeting peeing. How to deal with frustration elimination, and how to contract with a dog who marks. The marking dog constituent was aimed at males, but females can also mark. Some will do so, just similar to with males, if the dog is insecure or dominant. Although my book just come out, see if you library has it or you can get it at your local bookstore.

Usually I would crate train for this but you may not wish to near your dog due to her past experience. I would though provided she has not well-read to soil in a crate which she most probably will have. A crate can be a cosy place of safety to a dog or a prison and you can take home it the former not the latter if you wish.

However at 4 months of age I would still expect the odd coincidence with any dog and more so with your dogs history so don't worry unduly nearly it. What you might want to try is paper training so at these times she goes on paper not on the floor. If you do try doing it this bearing.

Paper Training
Some people advocate paper training where on earth the puppy learns to use newspaper in the house, which is bit by bit moved to the door and then outside. This method tends not to be as high-speed and many people feel that you are rule a puppy to soil in the house and then have to re-teach him to run outside. However, if you do prefer to paper train:-

o Start by covering the entire floor beside paper
o When your puppy “goes” don’t pick up that patch of paper as the scent will act as a sight and your pup should go near to that area subsequent time (pick up the “poo” but leave the paper).
o Obviously the used paper will have to be replaced after a couple of times purely make sure any new daily is scented with some of the old when you translate it.
o Gradually reduce the paper in the nouns not used by the puppy and if you see him about to “go” on one of these area’s minus paper pick him up and put him onto the paper he can use.
o When your puppy is consistently going to the paper to toilet switch on gradually moving it to the door he will use to go outside. Then as he make his way to the paper encourage him to travel outside by putting the paper in the garden.
o Gradually kind the size of the paper outside smaller and smaller until he does not need it as his “marker” any more.

With your dog hang on to taking her outside as you are as she already knows to "go" outside.
