Any tips on how to keep hold of a puppy from climbing out of its playpen when I'm absent?

When I got my puppy I set up a playpen in my home for her. She have a place to eliminate, play and it also has her cage/bed in it contained by. When I first started leaving her at home to go to work, I come back and she would be in the playpen waiting for me. Now the past couple of days when I come home from work she had climbed out of the playpen and had eliminate all over the house.

When I'm at home she is always out of her playpen. I with the sole purpose place her in there when I go to work or move about to sleep. Is there any training techniques/tips to help me keep her within that designated area when I'm away?
I'm afraid that there's not much you can do when you're not in actual fact there. Is there anything that you can put over the top of the pen, something that she wouldn't be able to knock past its sell-by date, and couldn't possibly fall on her and hurt her? Any way you can extend the height of the sides (push it up against a wall, a piece of furniture, a blind, etc.)?
We have this problen too!!
If she is climbing out of it you could make it higher without any footing holes within it for her to push herself up with, same for if she is jumping out. My puppy be actually going through the bars of her playpen so we put sheets of wood around the outside of the bar so they were blocked off.

Hope one of these solutions helps.
crate training works wonders. get a larger one and put puppy pads within one corner with the scent on them. she will cry and scream for awhile at first but they eventually come to see it as their bed and love it.
attach a piece of chicken wire to the top of the play pen it is very inexpensive and it should do the trick use some old clothes hanger to attach it to the play pen. Chicken wire can be found at your local Tractor Supply company. or Lowe's, Home depot
Ya its called a dog crate . its safe and the dog cant bring hurt or make messes or any thing it shouldnt while you are away . you should google crate training .
You could put her in a room and close the door so she can't carry out that way. Or, you can look into crate-training her. Good luck!
