Border Collie is panting deeply?
Is that normal? He has access to his big water bowl 24/7. And he drinks when he desires to, and seems to take in a honest amount of water. But at night (he sleeps on his doggy bed in my bedroom) I can hear him panting, it'll lug him 10 or 15 minutes till he stops..sometimes less if I'm lucky. He's a somewhat young dog, estimated around 3 or 4. But he act like an old man.
Is this panting normal? I consent to him out to go potty right before bed, and by the time he gets up stairs, he is panting again!
P.S. He'll be going to the vet to find neutered soon. Should I ask the vet, or is it nothing to be concerned about?
Also, I am unsure of his surroundings. He was a stray, and has just gotten to a pious body weight.
If climbing the stairs is causing him to pant them i would be concerned,
It could be thats hes really unfit but adjectives the same i would have the vet have a look at him.
I would mention this to the vet because panting is also a sign of pain. Your dog might hold some medical issue you are not aware of, or he could just be hot in your bedroom.
When my border collie/ german shepard starts doing that i just dispense him a few ice cubes. He thinks they are treats and chomps them down while it cools him down.
He's probably only tired. Running around in the Yard and then all of a sudden be expected to progress to bed, he has to get his heart to slow down, thats what panting does
Answers: same problem! i was sleeping on the same matress as my puppy, and consequently he starts panting so hard the side of his mouth, the part that covers his teeth starts to go up and down. but my border collie puppy is fine and i really don't hink its anything to verbs about, as long as he is super active.
hes probably tired.bigger dogs tend to pant alot anyway
