Can a dog devour a fluent loofah sponge and be ok?
My dog ate my wife's natural loofah sponge . . . no chemicals . . . it was smaller.
Call a vet and ask them about the dosage for giving the dog Peroxide.
I've had a vet tell me to do this when a rescue ate adjectives the bandages on his leg.
Peroxide will make the dog throw up and bring up the sponge if you don't loaf too long.
How big is your dog? All depends whether the dog can pass the sponge or throw it up.
If the dogs seem listless, uncomfortable, in pain - bring her to a vet asap, sponges can expand and cause intestinal blockages - that can be fatal.
The problem here isn't chemicals, it is blockage of the intestines.
Aren't you feeding your dog satisfactory?
If your dog stops eating, vomits, have diarrhea or is lethargic then I would take him to the vet. Hopefully he can pass by it on his own.
Did the dog eat it in pieces? They make dog loofah toys that are made to verbs teeth, and are made of natural loofah. I'm sure it is fine. Just keep an eye on your dog, whether anything is off call you vet.
Answers: How big was the sponge? How big is the dog? Is the dog competent to keep food/water down? The thing dogs will never realize (and so they depend on us to be the smart ones) is that their esophagus and stomach are BIGGER in diameter than the rest of their GI tract. What they swallow may not dispense them any problems...until the object gets stuck further down the line. A drop by to the vet and an abdominal x-ray would be a good idea - a very, extraordinarily, very good idea. Yep, that funds money, and that's no fun. However...it wasn't the dog that left the loofah in the wrong place, was it?? (Pet owners recurrently dislike that question). If there is ANY sign of GI upset or vomiting - then I'd say your judgment has been made for you - GET to a vet.
If he ate the whole thing, Id call the vet. some of that stuff expands.
