Dog experts, I obligation to know adjectives more or less this dog (pics)?
My dog brought this dog home with her after a run in the area yesterday. I thought it was a female but after looking better, he's a neutered manly. He barks like a Coonhound. I can't find his owner. He has an elderly frayed collar but no tags. He's a very friendly dog and loves my dog. Anyway, can you look at the pics and give me info close to what breed, how old (looks young), and general body condition? He had nearly 3 inch long nail I trimmed this morning (not easy). He also looks a little skinny to me. His ribs and hip bones are slightly visible. Thanks for the help. Sorry, I have to tie him to keep him still for the pics. I have him in a kennel right in a minute till I figure out what to do. He may be a lost hunting dog as we have woods. I checked a 2 mile radius for his owners but didn't find anyone.
i can't exactly tell what breed but it looks to be 2-5 months older and is a little skinny. hope i helped!! :)
I think you hold a purebred black and tan coonhound. Conformationally speaking, the dog looks correct to breed standard.
Here's a champion feminine: http://www.orionredsea.com/Emilie.jpg
And here's a champion male: http://www.pets4you.com/pages/images/wye...
Though close, Doberman pinschers have a extraordinarily distinctive and different look.
Hope this helps you! Good luck finding his home! : )
Dotson Daschund? Really adorable! How sweet of you, I'm sure he has been w/o food and river for a while that's the reason for his ribs showing. He looks healthy to me. His coat is shiny, he does look young, perchance your dog found her playmate!
he looks to be a young black and tan coonhound. he's not in fruitless condition so I would bet he ran off on his owners- probably followed a scent. call the local animal shelters, vet, and dog catcher to see if anyone has reported him missing. biddable luck!
At first I was going to utter a blk/tan Coonhound, but the ears are not long enough. Looks to me to be an all natural Dobe, probably purebred around 6-7 months outdated.
That's a Doberman mix. It has very long ears and an undocked tail but the rest is pure Doberman.
It may be a pure bred Dobie but I doubt it! Even a Natural eared Doberman's ears are not that long. The rest of the marking are that of a Doberman.
He DOES look like a coon hound, and beside those hip bones showing he is skinny. it's a beautiful dog! and a lucky one, for you to have found him. aside from being too tinny, he looks in good shape. He looks like a babyish dog to me, too. (keep him!)

He is a markedly cute dog. Lucky to have found a lovable person such as yourself.
He definitely have some dachshund in him.
Good luck with him.
looks like a austrian hound. a fine hunting dog prized contained by austria. cant beleive a dog like that was dumped( sounds like it cuz no tags)
You should just take him to the vet and let them recount you everything they can about him and his health.
Awwwww, he looks approaching he's still a baby and has quite a bit more room to grow.
Black and Tan Coonhound.
You might want to contact your local animal control to report the found dog incase anyone is looking for him.
He's just a puppy! Not yet full grown. He conspicuously has hound in there conceivably Doxie judging by the shape of his face. And possibly Beagle.
Answers: A black and tan coonhound pup that seem to have been lost a little while. He could be oodles miles away from home. I'd advertise him as found surrounded by a few local papers, contact your local pound or dog control, and ask arouind any hunting clubs nearby. Don't give too many details, approaching color of the collar, or even gender. This way, you can ask questions similar to "Was your dog wearing a collar when you lost it?" or "Male of female?" to anyone trying to claim him, so you can be sure he is really their dog.
ADDED: I'm not so sure he's neuter. I think he's young enough that he merely doesn't have much of a "package" yet.
Looks close to a Doberman mixed with a Beagle and possibly others.
While the coloring is similar to a Doberman, the face is not authoritarian enough. It is way to tall to be a Dachshund. It looks similar to a young black and tan coonhound. They are fairly lean dogs, but he may be a bit withered from being a stray. He probably followed his nose away from his domestic and couldn't find his way back. Since you have woods around you, he may own come quite a distance. I would contact vets and animal shelters in your nouns - maybe even make up a found dog flyer that could be posted at the vets office and such - some grocery stores have community billboards that allow you to post flyers also. You could also put an ad in your local rag or on craig's list. Since he has a collar, you could use that to confirm the owners. Don't say he have a collar, but ask people who contact you to say what color was his collar or something resembling that. Here are some websites on the black and tan coonhound.

I don't see any pics
You should call upon the local shelter and let them know you have found a dog. If the dog is lost, the owners may have call looking for it and if you take it in they can scan for a microchip. You could also put an flier in the paper stating where the dog be found and when, but don't include a description as that is one way to be sure the relatives trying to claim the dog are legit. If he was lost and not abandoned, it sounds like he have been gone a while so you might never find the owners.
He looks like he has dachshund within him definitely. Just because he is tall does not mean he have no dachshund in him. And there is no way to enlighten if he is a puppy or not unless you look at his teeth. If he still has baby teeth he is lower than 6 months of age. If he is still a puppy it is hard to tell how big he will get beside him being a mixed breed. It is possible he has doberman in him but he is not purebred doberman. He is too long! and his ears are too long! He is definately not a purebred dog. Take him to a vet, they can scan him for a microchip, a moment ago to make sure. Plus you dont know what, if any, worms he have and that can be passed to any other animals you have at home.
He looks like a unbelievably young 6 month old (guestimation) black and Tan coonhound, I've attached a link for the coonhound.
He does not look too skinny but could stand to gain a bit bit more weight. You should be able to feel the ribs lower than a thin layer of fat but they should not be distinct, the hip bones protrude but not overly so.
He's a handsome fella I hope he works out for you.
It does state that a black and tan's nose will get it into trouble and it will run stale in search of a scent, looks like that might hold happened in his case. I'd check beside the local shelters to make sure someone isn't looking for him.
That dog is most definitely a black and tan coonhound.

He may own wandered pretty far. You can take him to a vet and they can see if he have a microchip or you can check with nearby animal shelters or the pound to see if anyone have reported him missing. You could also put an ad in the daily and see if anyone calls. He is really a cutie! He does look rather skinny though. He should probably acquire checked out by the vet to make sure he's ok.
He does still look like a puppy though. The dog contained by the link I provided is 10 months old, so that should sort of impart you something to maybe help figure his age.
He is a little tapered but if he is a hunting dog( most likely) he could have followed his trail so far that he did not make it vertebrae to the hunter and just got lost. This happens particularly when they are good hunting dogs they tend to not stop following the scent even if they hear their owners call.
Put some fliers up at adjectives grocery stores , wal marts co ops feed stores even at the gun stores. do not add a picture just that you found this dog when he come home with yours, identify the frayed collar in your public notice. Whoever calls make them describe the dog and tell you the dogs christen if the person tells you their dog is a blk and suntan then see if the dog knows the first name they give you
If he howls like a Coonhound - he is a Black and Tan Coonhound puppy - he doesnt look to be but about 6 months whether that - from the pics. Maybe someone was training him for hunting and he got away (or he wasn't a enormously good hunter and they abandoned him). I love Coonhounds - I just have a Bluetick Coonhound of 9 years pass away unexpectedly about 4 months ago and I adopt a 3 yr old Redbone Coonhound female 2 months ago - I have a Bluetick mannish that is 4 yrs old that I adopted 2 yrs ago. I am into Coonhounds (not for hunting but because I love their vocals and their goofiness and sweetness).
Some Black and Tans hold longer ears than others - just like some Blueticks have longer ears than others - depends on the strains.
