Help near my father's friend's dog?
First of all. Happy Thanksgiving.
My sister and I are watching my father's friend's dog until tomorrow afternoon and she's underweight. She's about 4 or 5 years old, possibly 6.. it's hard to tell, and she's a collie..
We're really worried about her have fleas and being underweight. She had an allergic reaction to the fleas and she have a bald spot on her back. I'm going to give her a tub with flea shampoo, but it's going to be a challenge since she hates sea, and then i want to feed her some food so she'll gain weight. What can I nurture her so she'll gain weight??
Go to the vet and ask for CapStar, it's a pill that will kill fleas for 24 hours. If she can't handle flea treatments that is your best bet. She should gain counterweight more easily once the fleas die off.

There really isn't much you can do in 24 hours to make her gain weight. In certainty changing her food and feeding her too much could cause problems. She may enjoy underlying medical problems or allergies that you know nothing about. A good tub shouldn't hurt, but if she has allergies to the shampoo it may cause an outbreak. Is within any way you can get ahold of your father's friend and ask if it is OK to furnish her a bath? He should know if she has allergies or not.
It may be that he doesn't exactness for her properly, or she has other issues that he is trying to work through. The little info you gave doesn't clear it up. She may even be older than you believe she is.
Next time you dog sit, ask the owner if there are any medical issues so you can be aware of them.

Be careful with the hip bath don't want to get the shampoo into her sore this could be painful for her.With food you have to look out she doesn't get diarrhea.A change in foods sometime cause this. This is neglect!! No animal in a person's care should be beneath weight! Or full of fleas! If he can't do any better than this he doesn't deserve this dog,,,,This poor dog may also have worms? and is suffering from the owners stupidity!! This you will be able to describe look at dog's poo if has worms she needs treatment whether so need to pick up place in plastic bag and toss out also report to this fool his precious pet is worm infested or get some worm medication and treat your self.You can give her cooked hamburger, cooked rice, cooked eggs (any way)total cereal,oatmeal (plain)1/4 cup vegetable grease 1/4 cup karo syrup pasta's bread and butter, peanut butter, can foods,Mix different things together and feed her 5-6 times a day small meals.She will gain contained by several days if fed like this.What you nurture her is very essential as well a suitable quality of food is best.Not that cheap junk!! She needs proteins, nutritious and vitamin's within her foods.May wish to go to a pet store and get her a better food. This will steal longer than you will have her for.The only way for her to gain consignment and stay healthy is for this fool to take her to a vet gain shots if need (and most likely does) treat for fleas as you should and nurture this dog a better food and enough of it. Other wise she will stay the same or become so not at your best she will die.The fleas are slowly killing her as well since they feed from her blood.Without flea treatments she will carry re infested. She doesn't need to go back next to this lame owner She deserves better! These are wonderful dogs and very nice and pretty If cared for proper MIL has 2 awsome collies capably cared for. Don't let her go stern to a lousy owner!! Give this dog Pedialyte to drink.

With any dog that is underweight, you don't want to overfeed or try to put weight on too quickly. Dogs can draw from overweight quickly as well. We feed our dogs Iams which you can buy at any walmart. What I would do is nurture her Iams 3 times a day, and then suggest to him that he cut her hindmost to twice a day once she has put on alittle weight.
About the fleas...I would report to you under any other circumstances to go to your vet's office and spend 15.00 on a product call comfortis. It is an internal flea preventative that will literally kill every flea on her in 30 min and continue working for 30 days. But your vet's department isn't open, so I would get Sergent's flea shampoo GOLD. It also says that it will gun down fleas and ticks for 15 days and kill the eggs for 30 days.
