Honest Opini0n yorkie or shih tzu?
Im in he 7th grade and has be wanting a dog for really long now I am leaning more toward the shih tzu mostly because it is cheaper, but of course my daddy will earnings anything (my mom is the problem).So yeah and im sure im getting one for christmas I just cant decide!

Both are great dogs but a few things you want to focus about are these. How much activity will the dog get. Yorkies are more influential and require more exercise so if you want a dog that will play this is probably your best bet. Shih tzus do play but are more relaxed in nature. Shih tzu's also tend to enjoy respiritory problems so you might want to do some research on this if you do choose a shih tzu.
I have a Shih-Tzu , & I love her she' s the best dog I hold ever had. My boyfriend's daughter has a Yorkie & a Silkie (bigger size Yorkie) . They are great also. A lot of the readers said Papillon's , my boyfriend & I hold had 2 papies they were great dogs too. We got rid of them because we have too many dogs in the house.Those were his words. Papies shed close to crazy though, but they are very loving dogs. The only dog we have contained by the house now is my Shih-tzu, & I refuse to let my boyfriend net me get rid of her. Shih-tzu don't shed either, not for sure nearly yorkies & silkies though.Any of those dogs make great pets. Happy deciding.
Yorkie are very small
They are should be between 2 and 8 pounds
Silky terriers are close to yorkie's but their coats are silky, they are between 8 and 12 pounds
I would look into Silky Terriers because they are incredibly close to Yorkies, but bigger

I have a shih tzu know, she is a good size shih tzu, in the order of 20 pounds
they are around 12 to 18 pounds. They are a very good size dog. Small, yet big plenty

I would try to adopt one from a shelter. If you really want a pedigree, try to get one beside very few/very mild health problems and one that is to say cheap. I personally think buying a dog costing more than $300 intending for it to be a pet, and not for showing, is dangerous and a refuse of money. My friend bought a yorkie for $1000, had it for a month, got really attached to it, and then it escaped out of the house when a neighbor visit and got killed by a car...She get a broken heart, and lost all her money she saved up for several months...
which ever best suites your life style and from a reputable responsible breeder you should know how to find both price at $500 or $600.
or you could go to the shelter and save a life for smaller number then 300!!

neither, both can be nasty if they are not trained and are cuddled to much. no angelic purebred would be cheap,
you should really look at getting a dog from shelter. thats actually cheaper in the first place, already spayed/neutered,
but no dog is cheap

I have a Shih Tzu and a Maltese near 1/4 Shih Tzu in him. They both are very sweet, laid back and loving. They simply want companionship and to sit on your lap all the time.
Well, it depends, they are very different breeds. Yorkies are terriers, they are high drive dogs, even though they are small, they need a lot of exercise or the can go unbridled, and become "yappy". Shih tzus are low energy dogs, don't get me wrong, they need exercise, but deeply less than a terrier would need. Yorkies were bred for digging for lice, shih tzus were bred for lap dogs. If you yourself are a high gusto person who likes to exercise, then i would capture a yorkie. But if you don't have time to go for a run everyday, and your not as "hyper" afterwards i would get a shih tzu. good luck :)

I would get a papallion i love their temperaments more than both those breeds...
but if you want any of those i would say yorkie
Shih tzu is the pup I would pick. They are a little more stout and smaller amount likely to get injured and you will be able to appropriate them out for romps in the park and nice long walks
shih tzu looks like . not a dog. yorkie adjectives the way. but poms and papillions are cuter.

yorkie all the road more easy to train and are very cute
yorkie are so cute when they are puppies and when they are puppies and when they are older, plus you wont hae any shedding problems!
i hope you hold enough energy to keep up next to him or her yorkie!
i have one myself and he is just so excited when i see him and when he wakes up.
Yorkie's are extraordinarily loyal just make sure it bonds near you and your always around it
