How are these population registering their dogs?
Ok.. so for the past few days i have been looking at different kennels trying to find an awesome tri-color pitbull for public sale and i have come across at least 10 different kennels that have some of their Pitbulls registered next to AKC. I would like to know how this is even possible when AKC does NOT recognize the breed? someone clue me in...
theyre lying.
As said the AKC AmStaff can be dual registered with the UKC & ADBA as American Pit Bull Terrier.
The APBT name was the orginal label before the AKC changed it in 1936 to Staffordshire Terrier. It was changed again contained by 1973 to American Stafffordshire Terrier cause the AKC brought on the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
What are you looking for a blue tri or a black and tan?
This is a good breeder care about her dogs, shows them etc.
She has black and tans. Excellent bloodlines.

They are probably UKC American Pitbull Terrier and AKC as the American Staffordshire Terrier. Same breed, different registry name.If they carry dual registration, they can go either method.
AKC recognises pit bulls as American Staffordshire Terrier. They changed the name long ago to distance itself from the conflict lines. Thats all UKC was made for at firstr was American pit Bulls and kept their christen, then went on to add other breeds to the registry.
Answers: yOU ARE COMPLETELY RIGHT. I hold no idea, there is no such thing as an AKC AMERICAN PITBULL TERRIER, ONLY AKC AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIERS. But the piece is, some people do register tthem (pits) as akc under the staffy, BUT they cant have, red proboscis, or spotted noses. So if you come across a staffy with a red antenna, its not a staffy, its a pitbull. Staffys can only have black or blue noses. (blue nose come from the staffys of blue color) other colors should be black. Dudley noses are noses with "pink" or flesh pigment within the nose, so therefore red, or spotted of red, pink, white with black..hope this help! And another thing, there are no tan and black staffys, this is also a color condemn in AKC. You would need to look for UKC, SOME THINGS TO AVOID AND LOOK FOR:
The head is in good health chiseled, blending strength, elegance, and character.
Very Serious Fault: Overly large, substantial heads
Serious Faults: Bulging eyes; both eyes not matched in color; blue eyes
Very Serious Fault: A short, thick d¨Ścolletage that would interfere with functional ability
Faults: Upright or loaded shoulders; elbows turned outward or tied-in; down at the pasterns; front legs bowed; wrists knuckled over; toeing in or out.
Very Serious Fault: Legs shorter than partially the total height at the withers.
Very Serious Fault: Overly massive body style that impedes working gift
The American Pit Bull Terrier must be both powerful and agile so actual weight and height are less high-status than the correct proportion of weight to height. Desirable bulk for a mature male in apposite condition is between 35 and 60 pounds. Desirable weight for a mature female within good condition is between 30 and 50 pounds. Dogs over these weights are not to be penalized unless they are disproportionately massive or rangy.
Very Serious Fault: Excessively large or overly massive dogs.
Only color breakdown is the merle. (although some are pretty)
Hope this helps, And a blue tri is very pretty. Just make certain its not overley huge(some are due to outcrossing how else do you think the pitbull got so overly large , short and cavernous?? lol)
They are registered as American Staffordshire Terriers with AKC. There are actually a lot of dogs dual registered next to AKC as Am Staffs and with UKC as American Pit Bull Terriers.
The "Pit bulls" they are selling are most likely AKC registered American Staffordshire Terriers. But purely because they are AKC doesn't mean they are of good breed quality. I would look into finding a breeder that shows their dogs and breeds their dogs beside good temperaments and does genetic health conducting tests on their dogs. I would google "The American Staffordshire Terrier breed club" to find a good reputable breeder in that club.
AKC Amstaffs can be dual registered with UKC as APBT.
they are lying.. or dont know what registry their dogs have
Or they are actually Staffy's and they are calling them Pits? In which bag they are stupid to not know what breed of dog they have!
