How can I find out where on earth and when Canine Good Citizen (CGC) carrying out tests is contained by my nouns?

Would the AKC know? If so, does anyone have their phone # since I'm having problems with my e-mail. I own a 2 1/2 year old Sheltie who is mostly an agility dog working towards her MACH title but has her CD surrounded by obedience. She's very friendly and obedient and I never enjoy any problems with strangers or strange dogs (although she will protectively bark at MY house but never in pubic). She's also not shy similar to some Shelties can be around new people. I've read what they do in the carrying out tests and it sounds like she shouldn't have any problems. What kinds of distractions do they commonly use though? She sometimes barks (like many herding dogs) at things that are unknown and move funny like the first time she saw a grocery cart a PetSmart, lol! THANKS for any help or suggestions on preparing for the carrying out tests. I'd love for her to be a therapy dog. She is just incredibly affectionate and everyone falls in love near her. Here's a photo of her. She's the one on the left. The other is my male who is slightly younger. He's a bit too shy for the CGC test.

Of course the AKC "would know"-it's their program & ALL AKC events are planned & scheduled & given event numbers months surrounded by advance.

Check the AKC site for *all* AKC event info.,including what's needed to qualify for all titles.

Contact your local kennel club too.
As it is a program run by the AKC, I would try www.akc.org I be briefly looking and there are CGC links there, and I'm sure whether there's nothing posted they could help you get contained by touch with an evaluator in your area to arrange a time to hold it. For the therapy dog part, you might want to look up the delta society or a similar local program.
Good luck
Answers:    awww she is super cute!

for the CGC interview, go to:
http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/index.cfm

there is some basic information on the first page, and in attendance are links on the left to find and evaluator, as well as training courses.

the test isn't too startling, as long as your dog is good with strangers petting them, looking in their ears/eyes/mouth, and they must behave when vanished with a stranger for 5 min (you walk away).

as for the therapy dog credentials, you should look in to
the delta socety (a) http://www.deltasociety.org/
and therapy dogs international (a) http://www.tdi-dog.org/whatdo.html

this test is much harder, particularly for a skittish dog. they will noisily bring wheelchairs, walkers, and such around the dog, gently bump into the dog next to these things. they will also behave loudly and erratic at times, and clumsily pat the dog (to test how your dog would react to a patient near mental illness). this is a deal breaker for many dogs, but it is important. they also own to walk very well on a leash beside no pulling, and 'leave it' while passing yummy food on the floor. it sounds like she's a pretty smart dog and you could work on those things surrounded by advance with her. it's especially informative to have a person she doesn't know to help beside the training after she masters the situations with you.

have fun and good luck! :)
Normally the local dog obedience trainers can tell you where the subsequent CGC test will be. They also should have the list of nouns the dogs will be tested on.

Here is a list of the test items:

Yes AKC would know. Got to AKC.org. Also many dog shows will hold CGC tests at the time of the show, or trial. I was at the Cluster a few weeks ago within Springfield, MA. They had breed, obedience and the largest agility trial in the country. The held CGC test, and microchip clinics. My sheltie was the nuetral dog for one testing at my training facility. Since she clearly passed that portion of the test, I did the rest of the tryout that day. She passed with flying colors. Dog trainers in your nouns or dog clubs would also know.

this is the website that has AKC CGC evaluators. It have information on how to contact each of them. Hope this helps.
You can search on www.akc.org contained by their seaech bar on the top of their homepage Canine Good Citizen Testing in wherever you live.
You can also force out whatever you want that is dog-related in that hunt bar and will give you many suggestions whether there is not the exact thing you were probing for.

Good Luck!
the best article to do is go through your training school or breed club. sometimes they set up the tests on a hours of daylight and have a bunch of people go through them adjectives on the same day.

check out this site, there's information to contact testers, although i've only see them list their e mail contacts.

CGC isn't really hard whether your dog is well socialized and obedient. i hope she does well beside other dogs!
your dog school will know.
It is a very rewarding program to get your dog certified in. You will have need of to find a training facility that will support the CGC test with a certified CGC judge,
Here is some info for you:

Here what AKC requires:

All my dogs hold earned this through the training facility I brought them too. It doesn't matter how old the dog is to carry out this.

Best of luck!
