How do I keep hold of my jack russel within the backyard? ?
My Jack russel will not stay home. I have tried everything. I want to give up but I in recent times can't. My husband and I just got him and my pug back from individual gone for four days. That is a story in its self. Any ways. Nothing is working HELP
I know a lot of individuals on this site think the invisible fence and collars are cruel.
I for one wasn't to keen on getting one merely because of the price.
Now that I can turn my dogs out and not have to worry about them taking sour or bothering the neighbors I have decided it was powerfully wroth the money and the dogs are very happy with their freedom.
The collars don't bother them one bit. We cart the collars off when they come in and they don't give us any trouble when we put them on and they want to jump out.
I know I will probably get thumbs down from a lot of closed minded people who are unschooled on how the fence works.
Talk to people who have gotten one.
The installers will even train your dogs to where on earth they can go.
I have seen my dogs acquire shocked once or twice and they respect the borders now.
The fence is worth twice what they charge!
My dogs love their freedom!
It pays for itself if it keep you dog safe in the yard and not out surrounded by the road.

Dogs werent ment to be kept in crates.
I actually laughed a bit on this. Jack Russel's are specified for being little escape artists lol. With this breed, if kept outside is going to be pretty expensive. You'll want a straight up 6 ft blockade (oh, and yes, believe it or not they can climb chain link even 6ft,) with a brick, concrete border along the bottom, or burried. Or, you'll want to obtain a large kennel (about $300 for a 14ft by 7 1/2 ft kennel, without top, with top add on about $75.) Easiest way is to make your pup an indoor dog, individual allowed out while supervised, or on a soft lead, although not to be left on it for extended hours.

Easy solution. When the dogs are outside, supervise them. If you can't watch them, they should be inside in their crates.
1. You can try to get a paling for your backyard
2. You can also tie him up in the yard
3. You can hire a dog trainer
4. Or you can get an invisable paling collar

Fence your yard. Get a dog run. Keep them on a leash when outside.
How almost an invisible fence with the collar so they won't go beyond when the collar beep...

Nothing is working?
Not a 6ft tall solid fence set in concrete beside NO elevated areas to help get him out?
Not keeping him inside?
Not supervising him while he is outside and using his withdraw command if he starts to wander?
Is your yard fenced? Does the dog dig underneath to seize out?
If your dog is allowed to roam free and you have nothing in place to contain it afterwards no wonder if runs off and it's your fault whether that's the case.
A good training technique is to teach your dog the invisible boundary string which could be the end of your drive way or some other place where the dog can't cross. Draw a dash in chalk or put down some tape if important so your dog can visibly see the line it isn't allowed to cross.
I have learnt this next to my dogs from a fantastic trainer. Here is what we did:
The dog should have a choker chain on and be on a front. Walk up to the line and say "don't" over and over again in a conventional voice. If your dog goes over the line then it's three short sharp pulls on the head with you saying "no" very loudly at like time you pull on the lead. The dog then have to get back over the line again (even whether you have to drag it over). Once you are back where you started it's lots of compliment. Next step is to get your dog to stop at the line again, you walk on a few steps and the dog have to stop at the line with you saying "don't" over and over. Again, whether the dog crosses, it's the 3 pulls on the lead and the verbal no each time and returning to the other side of the row again (the side you started from). Repeat the praise once there. Once your dog is stopping there consequently you can be over the line and call your dog to you with lots of compliment when it comes. Do this over and over again until your dog will not cross that line unless you call it over, even with you humanely tugging it over on the lead. Your dog should not move until you give it the okay to do so.

Hopefully your dog will get the message that it can't shift anywhere over this line even if you aren't there to reprimand it.
