How do I return with my four year mature dog to stop destroying and consumption everything?
OK she is a pit bull. owned her since she was four weeks old. She is a good dog sit speak shake permit go and fetch. BUT she loves to chew on things. she ate the lattuce on my porch to go underneath. she chews on electric cords when they are plugged in!! YES I KNOW SHE IS NOT VERY SMART TO DO THAT! but she is my child! what am I supposed to do? grr she frustrates me!!
try to train her and discipline her and if you cant hire someone
Dogs that are taken too young from their mother and siblings (four weeks of age is four weeks too soon) usually develop some sort of behavior problem, especially destructive chewing.
About adjectives you can do at this point is to keep the dog away from anything she might destroy when you can not see her closely. You have to keep your home "puppy proofed" for this dog's lifetime by keeping things out of her conquer.
Another option would be to hire a professional animal behaviorist, NOT some so-called "dog psychologist" nor a dog trainer. You would have to carefully observe every thing the behaviorist told you to do or you would be wasting your time and money.
You could try a basket muzzle but most smart dogs can get a muzzle stale in less than a minute.
As the others said, your dog may be bored. It may also be because there is something bothering your dog health wise. Is it itchy? Scratch profoundly? does it need to go out side a lot? Bite his nail whether or not they are trimmed? Dogs can't communicate their problems with us. It may be normal, but your dog should be smarter than that and out of the chewing phase. If you are sure your dog is surrounded by perfect health, I recommend chew proofing the house, as well as getting toys your dog can play near if it is bored. I recommend a nylabone chew bone.(http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... My German Shepherd ate through every bone and toy I gave him when he was teething apart from this one. He has had it for a good 6 months and still isn't bored next to it! the bittering agents don't work, don't even bother, and they are hassle. The only way I made it through the chewing was by using a kennel when I wasn't around and a moment ago watching what goes into my dogs mouth. Just be careful because I had a boss who's pit bull established to eat a towel one day and had to walk to the emergency room because the bowels got tangled and the towel caused an impasse. Good luck.
Is near a meat shop close to where you are that would sell you soup bones for her to chew on. Failing that maybe capture her some chew toys. Anything for her to chew that she would like so she doesn't chew on the other things.
Also, try to somehow cover the electric cords because chewing on them could kill her.
When is she doing these behaviors? When you are gone? If that is the casing, she is doing it because she is bored..bored dogs chew, dig, etc.. For her OWN safety, you should crate her when you are not there..she could expire up getting an intestinal obstruction from something that she ate, or electrocute herself. Crate her, and give her appropriate things to chew on.
If you are a very influential person, get her some more exercise! A tired dog doesn't get into NEAR as much mischief as a hyper one!
Good Luck!
at that age, they are teething so it's perfectly commonplace
but for now,get her some hard chew toys
my friend's dog be having the same problems,so they got their dog a complex milk bone and chew toys
the dog loved them and stopped chewing random things for a long time, even though there was the occasional biting on the sofa. but very soon, that dog doesn't bite or anything!
Answers: Dogs have no idea about electricity. You cause is seem like she knows what she's doing and is doing it planned.
You are the human. You are the one with a finely developed brain and opposable thumbs. You have to set the rules and boundaries.
This is a bored, understimulated dog. She needs more to do, and she desires more exersize.
have you tried tabasco sauce or sprays from the pet store?
also- when you see her doing it spray her with water or shake a can near pennies in it
Hypnotize your dog. You can find trainers who do this. Its a real training method and works.
Try to find someone who have been doing this for a bit. There lots of hype around this new technique and there's cheap certifications that people are getting and saw they can provide this service.
Call a bunch of the veterinary clinics, not just the local ones, and ask for referrals.
