How long do dogs hold to stay near in that mum?
i'm getting a dog and they aren't born yet but they are going to be born this weekend so i am going to see them next week. i would like to know how long do dogs hold to stay with there mum!!
8-10 weeks-time for their eyes to undo. They receive through their mothers milk the first steps for their immune system. helps protect them until they start getting their first puppy shots. Which are extremely important.
I breed Huskies. Usually the females do not want to nurse after 4 weeks because of the puppies sharp little teeth so I normally wean them at that time. A week after that you give them their first shots.
They can go at 6 weeks. The mothers' may want to see them after 4 or 5 weeks but will not let them nurse.
I don't know where on earth people get this 8 week rule. Every puppy I've bought has be no older than 6 weeks old. I even got a couple of Wolf Hybrids at 3 weeks old.
As long as they can eat on their own and are domesticated they do not need their moms anymore.
Best at 8-10 weeks.
It's best they stay with their mom until 8 weeks dated. This is so the mama can teach them things once she weans them at 4 weeks old. That next month is critical for mom to teach them things.
Answers: Watch me get some thumbs down from those that enjoy no idea of how to raise puppies.
There is a difference between how long a pup should be allowed to nurse (be with it's mum) and how long it should be allowed to stay within a litter environment.
I wean my pups on a regimented schedule that separates the litter from their mother at 5 weeks, but then the litter remains together as a litter until 8 weeks of age. This removes unnecessary stress on the mothers health, and increases the likelihood of their first shots, at 6 weeks done with their physical, being effective.
10 weeks, no less or the puppy will suffer later contained by life!
8 weeks
12 weeks for smaller breeds
