I want to sign up my Golden Retriever for a dog sport, which one?
My dog is really active, and I feel kind of fruitless that he can only run around in the backyard to play, and that we can hardly find the time to appropriate him to the park or on long walks. My only problem is, he is so hyper around people besides my parents, my brother and me. He is other finding things around the house he can't have (like socks and clothes hangers) and runs around the house with them. He will be 2 soon. What dog sport could he do?
Agility, flyball, rally, compliance, lure coursing, tracking, hunting.
Um, there may be a few that I left out, but that is the bulk. Your dog desires more exercise and training, especially if you want to do dog sports. Obedience is paramount!
My golden loved to play Frisbee. It took some time until she could actually catch it contained by her mouth mid-air, but even when it rolled she ran after it and got her energy out. You don't hold to have a huge yard for it, just adequate to get the frisbee thrown horizontally. And the best part is that your Golden will never criticize you for a bad throw! Tennis ball are great to throw too. My dog also liked to swim when I was out in a canoe. She stayed alive like a puppy until she was 10!
I think a Golden Retriever would be a great dock dog! That's where you throw something in the marine and the dog runs and dives off the dock for it.
This is not a sport but will be much more rewarding and the training will calm your dog too. She nearly getting training as a Senior Citizen Companion dog. They visit seniors at seniors homes to provide the love and comfort with the sole purpose a dog can provide.

Answers: if he is really nippy get him into agility contests, if he is good at finding things i consider there is a tracking contest too but you have to train him to do these things in command. look up dog training on google and it help a lot
