Ideally should a dog hoof it at your departed or right side?
Or is it different in different situations? For example, in the show ring, hunting, general walking.
i say-so he should walk on the side thats away from the road
If you're contained by a show ring, then ideally the dog should walk on the side that is call for (usually the left for most competitions, although there are some advanced obedience exercises that require a dog to heel on the right and surrounded by agility the dog needs to be able to work from both sides).
For just broad walking the dog should ideally walk wherever you won't trip on them. Unless you are competing and there are rules regulating what side the dog walk on it really doesn't make a bit of difference.
One of my dogs was trained to "heel" on the right (I "fuse" as the heel command when I want her to heel on the left). When I am walking both dogs at the same time I can read out "heel" and one will fall into the heel position on the right and the other falls into the traditional heel position on the left. Both of my dogs are trained to "heel" on either the right or the disappeared. It is far more useful for daily walking than only knowing how to heel on the departed and it comes in very handy for agility and draft work (ie carting) because in both of those sports in that are times when the dog needs to work on the right side of the handler. I have seen dogs heavily trained contained by obedience do very poorly in agility when a course be set up in such a way that the dog had to be on the handler's right contained by order to take an obstacle correctly.
Left side.
Left is the appropriate side for walking dog's, it's the "heel" position
Answers: For adjectives obedience training you will do things with the dog on your left, also call heel position. In the show ring, I have noticed that they will walk the dog on the side that the mediate can see best. So, for general walking, the dog should be trained to walk on the left of you.
Ideally and for obedience prudent the dog should be on your left side and the leash in your right hand.
They should walk on the side that your hand lead. If you write with you left then pace them on your left, visa-versa.
But it doesn't relly matter...lol
Left, that is standard. In obediance classes and conformation.
We trained our dog to stroll on your left. My dad's family trained all of their goldens like way.
ideally the dog shd know which side it want to walk..lol
For showing or deference, the left side is right.
Ideally, your dog should be comfortable walking on either side. They should walk at your side or slightly down you no matter what side they are on.
on your left side.
