Is eye drops the merely tablets for dog eye infections? Is it difficul putting the drops contained by your dogs eyes?
You really entail to get your dog to the vet, so that you can get proper medications for it. Human eye drops are not worthy and should not be used on a dog.
No, there are other medications for eye infections except drops. The first thing you have to find out is what kind of eye infection it is, so that scheme you have to take it to a vet,
I have no problem putting eye medication in any of my dogs. It helps to have someone else hold them. Good luck.
Answers: It may be drops or an ointment... Ussually an ointment.
Its may be tricky the first few times, expecially if your dog is unacquainted to having his face handled.. capture a second person to help you hold the dog.. be quieten about it, use lots of praise.. the person assisting should also be petting and praising the dog.. conceivably giving an ear rub.. gently pull open the eye lid and apply the medication. The vet can show you how at the department. Its not painful for the dog to have the medication applied, so the dog is generally somewhat tolerant of it, providing he is getting compliment thru the ordeal. Do reward with a favorite treat after you apply the ointment.. if the dog is anticipating a treat after the treatment, he will be more accepting of getting the drug again later.
Sometimes the vet will give me drops, other times, ointments but I much prefer the drops! One of my chihuahuas gets corneal ulcer and has to use them regularly.
