Is it possible to coach maltipoos to swim within a pool?
nothing deep i just want to know whether u can teach them to doggypaddle in the shallow end
resourcefully yeah but dog might only swim when they think you need help out they will go swim when they want
most dogs know how to swim already.. (some breeds resembling bulldogs tho have a hard time tho because of their akward body shapes).. whether or not your dog ENJOYS swimming is the question tho!
Answers: Dogs instinctively know how to swim although Bulldogs generally sink like a rock due to their unusual shapes (humans really screwed up this dog breed).
The problem is introducing them to the water properly. Whatever you do, do NOT purely throw them in. That will not help anything. It will just craft them panic and may make them forever afraid of water.
Also, do not try to pass them into water and place them down gently. It sounds nice, but it has matching effects that throwing them in would.
The best thing to do is to play by an area where on earth they can swim and then casually throw a toy where they can wade. And tolerate them wade out there themselves. Don't act like it's a big buy and sell. Just wade out and start swimming and your dog may follow.
If you are having trouble, have your dog observe other dogs swimming. That's one of the best ways to edify a dog any trick.
ADD: By the way, whoever sold you that "Maltipoo" scammed you. It's a mutt with a fancy name.
I believe most dogs can swim, it just takes practice.
