Is it allowed to shoot your dog?
If you have a dog that is on the brink of death but you don't hold the money to go to a vet an euthanize, can you take it into the woods and shoot it? Is that legal?
No, it's not decriminalized. The animal police will arrest you for cruelty to animals. Give it to an animal shelter.

I work in a swine barn where the solitary method we have available to kill animals who are suffering is shooting them. We are trained, and sometimes animals still suffer. The goal is not hurried, but painless. I'm guessing that you do not know exactly where and how to shoot to cause no cramp. As well, there is always the potential of something going wrong near this method, causing intense pain for your dog, and trauma for you.

I don't personally know if it's legal or not. I am so sorry bout your dog person ill, but you must take it to a vet. This dog loves you so much and you would actually look it surrounded by the eye and shoot it? If you could afford to feed it and buy all the accessories and give a vaccination against it, I'm sure you could afford this last little thing.
Couldn't you ask a friend or someone surrounded by the family to lend you it? Some vet practices even have payment scheme or let you put it on a credit card. I'm sure you would rather hold your dog within your arms and say goodbye.
Yes,I'm pretty sure its illegal to shoot a dog,even though its suffering.If the authorities found out about it,you could achieve into big trouble for animal cruelty and not taking it to the vets.Your best bet would be to call a vet and ask how much it is to have your dog put to sleep.If you can't afford it,your freshly going to try and make your dog as comfortable as you can and let nature run its course.
Because animals are still considered property by laws it is legal. I understand the situation and I hope you brand name sure to do it correctly so that your dog does not suffer more. Make sure it is private property either yours or people that knows your intentions and is fine with that. Obviously you can't do it in town.
In some cities and states it is considered animal cruelty and you can be fined or even sent to jail for doing such.
An animal might be seen as property, but it is also see as a living form of property and as I stated some/Most areas do not allow that.
If you have problems with money try the ASPCA, as they are always of a mind to help animals in need.
i have put many of my animals down, and fairly honesly i would say shooting is one of the greatest. It allows you to really bond with your animal before its ultimate moments, the pain must be minimal, since the dog barely makes a nouns.
One note of advice, do not stand to close to the animal it is messy, whether you miss just shoot again.
Answers: IDK whether its legal but whos to know if you did it for the sake of your dog. It happened to my dog after it attacked a child and the vet and services didnt want to know so it be brought for the long walk in the woods, it was really distressed but had to be done
unless your in a situation that you are pushed to this limit most arent going to apprehend, its not an easy choice and i feel for you, as long as you make it as hasty as possible, a word of advice most dogs sence when its going to happen. My sympathy goes out too you as ive be in this situation dont mind people adage your being mean, their not in this, oh and try to take someone else to come with you to do it if you can
Are you within the UK? I can't answer for other countries, but I do understand that farmers/hunt staff destroy their dogs this way and you don't hear more or less them being taken to Court.
However... not in a million years would I attempt to do this unless I was expert and could be really certain that it would only take one shot.
Vets contained by the UK will normally only charge the cost of the injection, and if mandatory Crem. costs (plus VAT) for this service and the last I've had to pts cost me in the region of lb30/35 which isn't profusely to help an old dog out of its misery near dignity, is it?

we had to put our dog down. call the Animal shelter and vet and ask how how much they charge. they charge according to the weight of the dog. my sister asked her Vet. they charge us 35.00 and you bury the dog. or 20.00 more they'll embezzle care of it. that was the hardest decision we have to do. that was 8 months ago. our dog Jody would have turn 13 yrs that's 91 yrs in dog years on Nov 30. my husband said she know what was going to happen when they went inside. she be very ill. . My sons will remember that Christmas Morning of 95 when they saw that little black puppy with a red ribbon
im really not certain if its illegal or not state laws differ from state to state but i can donate you an opinion if your dog is suffering i would do it its in affliction or i would take it to a animal shelter and tell them your situation and ask them would they think you should do
some vet euthanize the pets for free if it is on the brink of death. i think you should lift some of this advice that is given to you because do you really want to deal beside the guilt of killing your own dog like that it not old yeller for christ sakes

You could be fined for animal cruelty or even stir to jail. Call the SPCA or Pound and tell them your situation then bring the dog within to see if they can help. The dog if you shoot a gun at it it will be TERRIFIED. Would you want that to be his later memory?

Yes it's court since dogs are considered property, and it's a quick kill. If any one can prove you used your dog as target practice, that's another matter.

It's not illegal to fire a gun out here, or use a gun on animals(pets, livestock, or wild) Other population may be going by what's legal in their area since it does come and go from state to state.
If "in the woods" as you stated is still within city limits, you could be fined for discharging a firearm inwardly city limits where as if it be out side the city limits, it would be fine.
