Is the Cane Corso expelled contained by Ontario ?
i have a 4 month old puppy cane corso looks of late like a pitbull he has a brindle fur colour i want to know if he is prohibited or not hes not a pitbull just looks like one and will i have trouble getting shots for my puppy
I just looked at pics on the internet of the dog you have. They, to me don't resemble a pit at all. Brindle is one of their colors and no Cane Corsos are not prevented in Ontario.
Unfortunately any dog that even newly resembles a Pitbull is part of the ban. You may not have a problem, as I own an American Bulldog and to the untrained eye he "looks" like a Pitbull. But all it takes is a couple of race who stereo type against the breed to complain about him. When the ban first took place I carried my dogs registration papers with me because I have comments on how he should be muzzled. I only had to pull them out once to an officer after a complaint at a subway, he insisted that he be a Pitbull. So I pulled out the papers.
If you own proof they legally can not do anything to your dog, but other than that, I agree with kip.
If it turns out you may have trouble, can you get a dna interview done to prove he's not a pittbull? I think Cane Corso's are beautiful..but at 87lbs (me)..they're not a dog for me :) enjoy yours!
Answers: The legislation states any dog that looks similar to a pit bull is restricted. So, it depends on whether the authorities in your area think he looks approaching a pit bull. Oh, and the onus is on the owner to prove the dog isn't a pit bull.
Add: wow - I told you a month ago to check the BSL legislation before you got a dog. Nice going - you now own a dog that may be put down, simply because you didn't do your homework.
