It's too cold for my puppy?
I have a 3 month old rat terrier puppy that was doing economically on potty training before it snowed, but since the temperatures dropped he doesn't like going external, even with a sweater on. I can get him to pee outside but he is presently pooping in his crate after he's been outside and is throwing himself at me to come surrounded by. Sometimes I know he needs to poop but I don't want to make him freeze to death to skulk and see if he will do it. He usually will run up the steps and wait nearby or lunge at me to pick him up. How can I potty train this pup and be successful? Also, how can I teach him to tell me he needs to do his commerce?
You need to wait outside beside him until he goes. You may have to wait awhile at first, but he'll numeral out that once he goes, he can come back inside.
Even in the cold, the dog will cram to go outside - the trick is to go external with him, stand with him, and don't allow him in until he go.
He will learn that the sooner he goes potty, the sooner he can get spinal column inside.
Ciaoooo!!
I'm Italian Girl !
You'll have to wrap up and saunter the puppy on a leash until he potties, sorry :-(
Answers: it will look stupid but he is not meant for this type of weather...put booties on him and a sweater...you can find them at any pet store..
