Malteses hold slash stains, how do i verbs her eye???
i know its with warm water but do i hold to use anything else? HELP! :]
There are tear-stain removers available at a short time ago about any retail pet store. I'm not positive of the efficacy of them, as I've never had a dog with the problem - but you can hand over it a shot!
If you do take that route, be sure to avoid getting it in her eyes - she may not close to the idea of getting her face washed and wave backwards and forwards around a bit. Placing some Vaseline *around* her eye can help keep the product from seeping contained by.
First, use a flea comb, tweezers, or your fingernails to get sour any "gunky" stuff that has solidified. It may also help to use a paper serviette between your fingers.
Then, use the warm water and try to get her facade wet with it. Keep combing/fingernailing the gunk out.
After the area is fully drizzling and you've gotten out the "solids," scub the area with a wash cloth using toddler shampoo, mild dog shampoo (not a flea and tick kind!), or Dawn dish detergent. Just try as much as you can to avoid getting suds in her eyes.
Use the drenched wash cloth to get the suds out and put some clean wet on until the soap is out. You can repeat soaping and rinsing, just keep the stuff out of her eyes.
To avoid getting anymore tear stains, you can hand over her distilled water to drink instead of tap water. This sounds crazy, but it's the stroke water that's causing the stains. The chlorine stains the coat brown or pink. It can also stain their little mustaches.
I hope this helps. Good luck!! :)
Watch her food as well...there is red dye in a great deal of food and treats that make the tear stains even redder and harder to get rid of
Alot of iron in the water will contribute to the color of the tear stains around the eyes and mouth,,..try bottled dampen instead.
Answers: I have a Maltese and I put peroxide in a little bottle and put some on a cotton orb to wipe her stains. Then I wash her eyes with a warm washcloth. I also use the product Angel Eyes. You put it surrounded by their food for 4 weeks then decrease to a few days a week. It is great stuff. Really works. They sell it online and at some pet stores. It last pretty long if you have a small dog. I also cut hers off near a small scissors to keep her looking great. Also comb the area. Good luck.
Try taking every morning a thaw damp cloth and clean around her eyes.
